Bash the SWP - why is it such a popular sport?

I have nothing against the SWP myself but do not agree with everything they say or do. The trouble with all left type organisations in particular those who think they are the vanguard. Is that this sort of elitism breeds the sectarianism of "we are the ones who know best everyone else sucks". Meanwhile the rest of us get on with our lives - exploited and messed over by captialism.

The left needs to learn a little humility maybe then it can grow.
you're absolutely right, sort of.:D

you are right that there is an awful lot of arrogant fucks in the left. Plus, there is something in nature of being in the left which attracts opinionated, outspoken, domineering types. But there is a problem, how could you not be, and be a political activist? I bend over backwards to avoid the pitfall you are talking about, and still people in my own family get irritated with me and call me a big mouthed know it all. Because when you think about it, no matter what your political persuasion, Conservative, reformist, leftist, you are in a minority trying to convince the vast majority of ordinary people like yourself, that the way society is run is a mistake, and it would be better if we did it.................... our way.

That said, I think you make a fair point.

Yeah I've had that experience of anarchists too. Not to say of course that all anarchos are like that (very far from it) just to say they're not innocent either.
I think we have to accept that we need a much more thorough going debate on the left and should co-operate wherever possible as a key part of that debate i.e. testing ideas out in practice.

Cop out, and you know it. You're not so shy when it comes to telling SW members what they should and shouldn't do.
You have completely lost me, I have a few things to say about the SWP true, because I have been in a number of projects which they completely hijacked into a reformist direction or ran into the ground. I dont see how calling things the way I see them as being 'telling SW members what they should and shouldn't do'

Sorry fanciful, but I think this is wrong, I have never come across the SWP co-operating, even when it 'works' with others, they are a hostile organisation in both theory and practice and this as shown up time and time again.
