thats nothing...i almost had a fist fight with lee hendrie outside a club in hurst street  ...if it wasnt for several of my mates he would of erm...had a very painful jaw :o

Lee Hendrie? He's a little shit. I was once on Broad Street (puke) with an ex - the fucker tried to steal my bird! We left the perma-tanned one at the bar, after I'd given him a suggestion to pass towards the opposition goal and not sideways.... :D

iv already told the story before, but my ickle bro {17}went up to him and said very pollitley "excuse me lee, im a massive fan, think your a fantastic player, dont suppose i could have a quick autograph if you got a sec"

to wish he fucking snarled

"fuck off just cause im famous you think i have to watse my fucking time signing autographs and talking to the likes of you" or somethign along them lines [i was abit pissed at the time to remeber the exact phrase but it was said very violently to my 5"6 strip of wind little bro]....so i went and told him a few home truths about what he should and shouldnt say to people and exlained in a nice way he should say sorry......or lose he's teeth :o ;)

Once a Bluenose, always a Bluenose as the story goes....

I always thought Lee Hendrie was a wrong-un though - I went to a reserve match in the early 1990's (I was about 10) and he was a gobby little shite - shouting at people for not passing to him, moaning, sulking etc. On the night of our "meeting" on Broad Street he was with a bunch of right pricks. They all looked coked up....

You can usually tell a person by the company they keep....

Gary Shaw? He was a striker!

We need a creative midfielder similar to how David Platt or Paul Merson played for us. We also need to sign a central defender that can actually play more than 10 games a season (cough, cough Martin Laursen), and a left back who is'nt always on another planet (cough, cough, J'Loyd Samuel) and walking around like a friggin' zombie....

oops. my sentences/editing got mixed up. meant to read that i wish we had a player like gary shaw and a creative midfielder like me. although i think less embarassing the first time :o

I'm another one who has bumped into Lee Hendrie and another one who thinks he is a twat.

The worst thing about Hendrie, at least from the Villa fan's point of view, is not that he's such a dick off the field but that he's wasted his talent on it with stupid sendings-off and by not giving 100% all the time.

Only he could get sent off in a pre-season friendly against Tamworth (who, I hear you say? you might well ask) and get himself banned for the first three matches of the season.

If I was the Villa manager he would have been out on his arse years ago. Did you know David O'Leary bid £ 6 million for him during his spending spree at Leeds?

I hear that his daughter did, though. ;)

Exactamondo! :D

Incidentally, it's Hendrie's testimonial next year  If we didn't have such a small squad it would be nice to get rid of him before then! :D I mean, who the hell would pay to go to his testimonial anyway?!

Just watched the Milan Baros press conference at Villa Park this afternoon on the website - Doug Ellis looked like he was slipping in and out of conciousness. I'd give him a year at the most....

P.S. The signing has been confirmed. O'Leary said that Liverpool were not very co-operative, trying to sell him to an overseas club, and that's why they kept putting his price up. They wanted £ 7.5 million at the end, but Villa would'nt budge on £ 6 million (still a lot though), as Liverpool want a new defender.

And now this whole saga is over. Thank Christ! :)

Doug has to go if Villa are to move on. I think Baros is a good signing for them if you look at the strikers in Europe that are available at that price.

And it's half a mill less than James Beattie or Crouch - which automatically makes him a bargain :D If and it's a big 'if' Villa can supply him then he could easily get 15 goals this season.

But apart from Solano, I can't see much invention in the Villa team. Hendrie's a plodder, Berger is good but erratic, McCann is just not very good.

Steve Davis is a prospect, but only 20. We desperatly need a new creative midfielder - in fact we've needed one for the past 5 years....

All wise words, although I think you're unfair to McCann who was never bought as a creative player .... he is at his best when playing in the midfield stopper role.

A lack of creativity remains Villa's major problem. Solano and Barry can both supply good crosses when they are playing well, but all our other midfielders (Hendrie, Davis, McCann, De La Cruz, Berson) work hard but have little creativity about them. Berger is getting on and it remains to be seen whether he can link up with Baros to provide the spark that we need.

1-1 away to Portsmouth.

Mid-table and dull. My mum lives about two train stops away from Villa in Erdington, but I haven't yet had the pleasure, thank fuck.

Not that bad a result considering we were down to ten men after 11 minutes.

I'm very pleased to hear that you haven't had the pleasure of your Mum yet.

Wow, I left that one open. Actually you could've done a bit better, if you'd thought about it!

I did think about adding "unlike everyone else", but that is too Skyscraper-esque.

Is it true that the delay in signing Baros was due to waiting to see whether he fully recovered from the operation he had to help him keep his head in an upright position when he is running (into a cul-de-sac) with the ball?

Either that or his agent kept Villa waiting while he did that photoshoot with the Czech edition of Playboy.Guess the Echo won't be printing any more photos of him with his shirt off. I'm gutted.
