Villa have today been linked with Fabrizio Miccoli, the Juventus striker. In my opinion he is a far superior player to Milan Baros, and I think O'Leary is getting sick with Liverplops holding up of the deal, and Miccoli is the far more astute (and probably cheaper) option. He's a potential Italy international with numerous under 21 caps, and I'd prefer to see O'Leary saving money by signing Miccoli and then being able to bring in another centre back - rather than throwing money at Liverplop, who have held the Baros deal up with their stupid smoke and mirrors for the past 2 weeks. Even though Baros wants to come to Villa and has agreed personal terms, the dallying still goes on (and for them to request we give them £ 6 million + our best player takes the piss).

What injured centre back Lescott? Why buy a crock - TBH he was very promising a few years ago but he's not really made the step up in the same way Dean Richards did.
Miccoli is a good little player - great potential, but i'm not sure Juve want to sell him with Trezeuguet always injured. Villa's problem isn't just goals, it's who creates them, or rather doesn't.
Hendrie and Barry aren't bad, and there's always Solano (if he stays), but McCann is really a holding player.

One small step for me
Houllier *discovered* Baros and took him to L'pool, and obviously still regards him highly if he's prepared to offer £8.5 mill, which is silly money. Obviously, the scousers would snatch their hand off for that, but does Baros rate Houllier so highly? He might have been glad to see the back of him. The Lyon interest has been there for a while, but he seems quite keen on joining Villa all the same.

baros does not get on to well with "said french ponce"...and said only the other day that he rates the spainish and english leagues much higher than the french...there is a real possability that he may try to hold liverpool out and force there hand into selling him us to recoup some cash before the transfer window shuts..
its good to know were looking at other possable strikers though just in case...

I would have thought that any offer made for Solano to be part of the Baros deal would have been put to Villa directly. The fact that DO'L chooses to come out and say 'Liverpool have good taste in players but Nobby ain't going anywhere' does not, IMO, constitute tapping him up in public.
As I understood it, and I'll gladly retract my remarks if I'm wrong, Liverpool publicly suggested (or leaked to the press, which amounts to the same thing) that Solano might be a deal-sealer if Villa threw him into the equation.

I'd love to see Solano playing for Liverpool. Top player and the Geordies were gutted when he left Newcastle. Would give Liverpool some cover for Gerrard who is facing a 12 Month season this year.
I quite like Baros, I think that he's shown in the European championship, that he can put the ball in the back of the net with ease at times. 7 mil would be just about right for a young fairly decent goal scorer. Got quite a bit of pace as well.
