Barefoot/Middleton covers 'Born Slippy'

Sean Paul - the acceptable face of sexism.

*sigh* ok dub. you're right. they were mysogynists. they had strippers.

just not when i went to see them. ;)

It's not a diversion - I'm highlighting the blatant inconsistancies in your argument.

Which appears to be:

Stranglers = MYSOGYNIST PIGS I HATE THEM LOOK THEY HAVE STRIPPERS ON STAGE

Sean Paul = GENIUS (NEVER MIND THE SEMI-NAKED WOMEN IN HIS VIDEO, OR THE FACT THAT HE COPIED HIS ENTIRE ACT FROM SECOND RATE RAGGA ACTS FROM THE EIGHTIES)

No, it's now become a thread about the reasoning behind your constant dismissal of music emerging from the remnants of a scene you weren't really a part of to begin with.

My thread, my rules.

If you can't explain why it's fine for Sean Paul to have semi naked birds in his videos but awfully poor for the Stranglers to do the same, that's OK!

:)

i don't even know what that means, but it sounds like elitist bullshit :)

i don't like it tbh, was really looking forward to hearing it as well, i really like these silly covers when they are done well, but dunno about this one, even when it's 'ironic' etc they still have to add something to the song (that acoustic version of straight outta compton being a good example) but this lot don't really seem to have any panache

for once, i'm forced to agree completely. It's like they've heard Nouvelle Vague, thought 'i'm going to have some of that' but haven't brought anything new to the table, so to speak

I like it because it's a bit random, and I do love a bit of random.... although when she says "white thing", she sounds just like Tori Amos.

Nah - good track. Why not etc.

That one with the really long hair was pretty hot I thought. Phooar etc. I managed to find it on youtube once, though now it's lost in the mists of time of course.

(wanders of digressing to himself)

Still waiting for an explanation as to why it's OK for Sean Paul to flout dollybirds in his videos, but not cool for the Stranglers to do so.

:)

Nick Turner has some saucy and semi naked women in his Space Ritual live shows. Where does he fit in on this point? I've never thought it was misogynist

Who cares, those girls had great legs...

I LIKE hot women in videos, especially semi-naked, (except when they're being slobbered over by hip hop/ragga twats and pretending to enjoy it) and so I don't understand the reasoning behind Dub's slagging of the Stranglers on that basis.

It's a nice take on a great tune.

And of course it's a novelty record, they're a covers band!
