Barcelona Attack 17-08-17

what if yer man doesn't know any first aid? and at last one of those people doesn't seem in a position to benefit from medical attention.

Even if your 1st aid isn't great the first instinct must be to try and help. I dunno try and source some tea towels that could be used. Maybe just ask the people who are helping if they need any assistance.

Personally I find the modern tendency to video stuff like this vulgar in the extreme. Oh, look pain, suffering and death - this'll get me some facebook likes.

as harry callahan said, a good man knows his limitations: and even though i've a first aid certificate i know that the injuries of the people in that video are beyond my meagre capacity to deal with. "first do no harm..."

maybe it is vulgar to video something like that. maybe not. it's not wholly to my taste. but i'd really rather he did that than stood about someone in their last moments going oh my fucking christ she's dying and there's no hope for her.

I'd prefer he'd shown an ounce of respect to the people on the ground. If he literally couldn't do anything to help (which of course he clearly could) then doing nothing would have been better than this. I just can't fathom the attitude. Anyway....

If only; its usually about money. Obviously the person who takes the images are a lot worse than those who would buy them and spread them around the world, though - especially if they are freelance.

I tend to agree, but I know I would be fucking useless in this situation, and maybe some people just think there is merit in documenting as much of it as they can, if they can't do anything else.

I like to think that if I was ever caught up in a horror like this I'd at least be able to sit with a badly injured/dying person, so they weren't alone. But who knows really how they would react, and it seems pointless to berate others for their spur-of-the-moment reactions.

Really? Surely you must some of the very basics? See if they're still breathing. Try and make a basic assessment of their injuries. Just put a hand on them if they're in great pain or dying? I'm not suggesting great medical knowledge here. Clearly if other people are involved in helping than barging in without knowledge is useless. But when you have people just lying there on their own?

People often behave really weirdly and illogically in stressful and difficult situations like that, and probably afterwards often feel terribly guilty that they didn't do more to help.

The tendency to film is one I don't like, but I also see people might end up doing it for a whole load of reasons, so I think being a bit more understanding might be called for tbh.

Anyway, back to the pricks that did this...

There was no need to post them here though. I'm disgusted at that. That said fuck the irrelevant pathetic cunts who think this advances their cause/faith in any way whatsoever. They are losers of the highest order. RIP all the innocents who died for absolutely nothing.

Maybe we are looking at the increasingly frantic death spiral of people: group who know they are facing extinction

Cunts

It was widely predicted that (edit) these sort of attacks would happen as they were pushed back, though of course they are that vile that they could well have done it solely because they hadn't been worldwide news for a couple of weeks.

Police now confirming there are fatalities but haven't given numbers, news reports saying at least 4 dead

I don't get the mentality of it myself, but I don't think it is necessarily voyeuristic, or motivation by selfishness and greed. At least I'd like to think not.

You could talk to them, tell them it's alright. Even if it isn't.

There is a case for gathering video evidence in some cases, the main area of a busy tourist area is probably well covered for CCTV though.

I think there's a difference between not doing harm and coming across as a heartless bastard.

(eta - not you obv PM, the shooter of the video)

Yeh you could do. But not everyone's like that in tricky situations. We don't know anything of the videoer's feelings or whatnot so prescribing what they should have done or not done seems more to do with our feelings than anyone else's.
