So how would you describe it then? Affectionate mockery?

Please explain, not sure what you mean. :hmm:

I'm not riled, just curious as you don't seem to be supporting Mccain either so what's the point?

1) Something not being one thing doesn't mean that it's automatically another specified thing.

2) Not complicated - weak kneed, he's our saviour type comments that remind me of class deference.

3) I wasn't aware i had to.

ah - he's a slick, ambitious political pro with a talent for pr and an understanding of the zeitgeist - rather like tony blair, but a tad more sophisticated.

he'll bring no surprises, upset no one important, and bide out his eight years clinton-style, and everyone will thank their stars he isnt bush.

Who started off (or escalated) the humanitarian-imperialism we hknow see in Iraq etc etc Who fucked up the chance of socialised health care for at least another generation
You cannot sit in that job and not do these things. It's that simple.

We're still feeling Clinton's waves though. Aything the US does makes waves. Which doesn;t make Lord Obama especially bad yet, but it does mean there's no way he won't do bad things. It's in the job description. He might do very bad things, and as i noted earlier, he's been sabre rattling already...

Yes, Clinton did like his little bombing raids. He continued the US embargo on Cuba and to support rather nasty folk around the world.

Oh, and paved the way for the first federal execution in 38 years.

i'm not expressing myself clearly.

by waves - i mean a massive sea-change to the left. a headline for the abridged history books.

posting on politics always makes me feel thick, which is why i don't think i've bothered in about two years, despite being interested. night all.

That's the second time you've posted that, what do you mean by it?

The term sabre rattling? It means threatening to attack someone bascially, to get them to do what you want - the actions of someone so overwhelmingly powerful they can just rattle the sabre in it's holder (not the right term i suspect!) to make people jump to their command. He's already taken a very agggresive stand towards Iran - saying he'll attack them if he felt the situation required it.

Ah, I misunderstood. That is a perfectly reasonable thing to say.:)

I knew that, I was just interested to what you meant by he'd been doing it.

Right-o.

Election day aint far off, whatever the voters or Diebold happen to decide, what are your impressions of Mr O?

his first week in office Obamamama will issue a declaration that the Bush Admin messed things up so badly that he'll have a hard time implementing most of his campaign promises....

i guarantee it

Many people hope that Obama has been rattling the sabre as an electioneering tactic, that he doesn't really mean any of the scary stuff and is just saying it to get elected.

People hoped similar things of Tony Blair in 1997.
