Bang Bang lounge bar, Brixton....oh dear

Have you seen the image they've included in their press release?

Underneath this punter-deterring image, there's a load of guff about, "Classic cocktails, an eclectic wine list plus traditional thin crust pizzas (the chef is Italian), bruschettas and antipasti at reasonable prices"

What the fuck are they on?!!

You got the press release?
Then be press! Write an article :) I'm sure it'll get into google results for "bang bang brixton" soon enough :)

Their website has piss poor google potentual, so anyone who fancies blogging about this with a title of "bang bang brixton" will probably come top for years to come. ;)

Oh my god. It's so cheesy and off the mark it's embarrassing.

Who are they trying to attract? It's an insult to peoples' intelligence.

And it's an insult to the people of Brixton.

these people are clearly cunts

WTF indeed.

police interest

I have good reason to believe that the police are now aware of the contents of this flyer and Inspector Noone at Brixton Police Station would be delighted if someone were to send him a hard copy of the offending flyer.
Something about bringing the matter up at the next licensing meeting.....
:D :D

this story hit one or other of the evening papers today, but I left it on the tube and I can't remember which.

I think he's trying to cash in on the success of the Bang Bang Chippie on the Brixton Road a bit further down from Jamm, meself.....

Good piece... I like the councillor's quote saying it's an "idiotic flyer" :) and not much from the bar owner. Can't see it staying open for long.

It is closed now...for re-branding.
He has agreed after contact with the community safety police team and the Brixton Business Forum, to change the name.

I think that's the right decision...but in all fairness, he must have come up with the name 'bang bang' before the Fridge / McD shootings, and my first reaction was 'bang bang chicken'. Not sure about the press release, though! That must have been a sick / ill-thought-out afterthought -and even if it wasn't, it could have been pulled.

I can imagine what that 'contact' must have been like and my sympathy for him is nil. But I wonder how many dealers they passed on their way to speak to him.

" seclusion place " What the Fuck?

I think a sit in protest should be organised.
Go en masse to the place with your own booze & sit in there not ordering anything siting that you are following up his kind offer and seaking 'seclusion' from the mean Friday night streets of brixton.

Best thing to do is never go there, tell others never to go there and watch as his business dries up. Also write unflattering reviews on London Eating and other similar restaurant websites.

The following is the text the proprietors of “Bang Bang” have agreed to distribute to all those in receipt of the promotional material for the 10th November.

“Following discussions between Lambeth Business Against Crime, Lambeth Licensing, Lambeth Borough Police and the proprietors it has been decided to change the name of the premises.

The promotional material was inadvertent and has been unreservedly withdrawn.

The proprietors understand the need to build positive public perceptions of Brixton and greatly regret any offence caused.

The proprietors do not wish Brixton to be seen in a negative light and feel that they were just trying to make an inadvertent point.”

In addition to changing the name of the premises, the venue has been voluntarily closed until the current name has been removed from the building. The planned launch of “Bang Bang” on 10th November will not now take place. The renamed premises will be launched in consultation with Lambeth Licensing and promotional materials discussed with Lambeth Borough Police.

Maybe we should help him come up with a slightly less offensive theme and name...

Baghdad Cafe? The Black and White Minstrel Bar? Willie Whitelaw's Wine Bar?

Oh fairplay, he's admitted he's made a mistake. Gawd knows why he though it was acceptable in the first place, but this is about the most gracious response he could make. Bang Bang could have been an innocent mistake, but letting himself get caught up with such a duff advertising concept was embarrassing.

Still, it is the same Marco Rebora who owned Neon. He's living on borrowed time unless he's genuinely learnt a few lessons. I can excuse a stressed small business owner being a prat at times, but there's an underlying problem here which needs to be addressed.
