Bands you've completely forgotten about

Fields of the Nephilim

I was listening to them yesterday with a massive smile on my face.

"Well I've seen With old eyes
And every time I turn around another dies
Think about this If looks could kill"

And if you tell the kids that today, they wouldn't believe you.

I couldn't forget them simply 'cause I've never managed to get the flour out of that cape... ;)

As a youngster I always found their gigs very exciting but I was never brave enough to go right down the front and get bruised and covered in flour with the 'eskimos'.

I must admit to still liking them and watching the DVD recently encouraged me to blast out Reanimator on the stereo for old time's sake.

the mighty Spit, whose 'Road Pizza' was cooler than nang in 1988.
(sighs, hauls himself over to tapedeck)
You know, this tape has survived the last 17 years, and I think I'm going to wear it out today :)

(thinks about purchasing original item...)

Really? So were they for real with the Gothy/Shamen thing or was it an image?

I think McCoy was for real, still is I believe.
I saw him smile once, after their dramatic intro/smoke machine set the fire alarms off, all the lights came on and the power went off just as they were starting 'For Her Light'

They were proper Goth; they originally called themselves "The Mission" until they discovered that name had been taken. There was an early connection between them and Chron Gen iirc.

i'm a massive Band Of Holy Joy fan, which is why it was a shock when i found out my flatmate was in them :D
Their drummer went on to make the excellent Mclibel film. http://www.spannerfilms.net/?lid=161

She used some Holy Joy tracks on the soundtrack as she couldn't afford to use other people's music!

Haven't seen Johnny Brown for ages, would love to bump into him again.

Voice of the Beehive.

Their album Let it Bee is incredible, especially the song Man in the Moon, awesome lyrics.

Oh, and Classix Nouveaux.......Sal Solo anyone????

Fad Gadget
The Bush Tetras
The Drowning Craze
Maximum Joy
The Impossible Dreamers
Definition of Sound (Wear Your Love Like Heaven).

I saw Chron Gen in about 1982 - my first ever gig! What was the connection between them and FOTN?

If memory serves, Jon, the guitarist had joined what was then called The Mission. He left just before the change of name. I still see Glyn around Hitchin whenever I go up to visit.
