i've been giving this thread some thought and to be honest can only really think of DISCHARGE (up till 'hear nothing...' LP), PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC, JOY DIVISION and JAPAN (although one could equally argue japan look like a right bunch of fanny-pads)
obviously the Sex Pistols would have been the hands down winners if it wasn't for steve Jones' shitty blowdried hair. If i'd been Maclaren i'd have insisted he got a skinhead crop which would have looked so fucking good along with the rest of the band.

yes. i always thought the stranglers looked brilliant in their cover shots.
really, really sleazy and disreputable.
something not many other 'punk bands' managed to pull off
(tho i spose their peers were more in the pub rock scene and Dr Feelgood always looked pretty cool in press shots. like a bunch of villains, or the management of an Old kent Road snooker club)

I like the everyday-ness of what CSS wear and to me they look good.
hmmm... just a bit too much construct to the everyday-ness IMO you see, when i first saw them, i just thought; "ho hum, lower east side chic, have a stylist, bet a few of them were fashion students/designers"

can't beleive they havn't been posted already...
yes, must say i was a bit surprised myself, but , cool though they may have looked , again, i always saw just a bit too much self-consciousness in their posing. then again, who in a band escapes that i suppose? paul simenon always looked phenomenal though. and topper always had that very 70s ratty, hungry, untrustworthy look about him that all punks should have had.
