It's been done too much to be anything other than wanky now.
Bands smashing themselves in the face with their instruments would be more interesting.

bands smashing OTHER BANDS in the face with their instruments would be even better still.

like that bit on gladiators hen they have to knock each other off the bar. but on the stage of the dublin castle or wherever. bet it'd increase the crowds they pull anyway. :)

Cmon, out yourself... it was someone like the Parkinsons or something like wasn't it? NME tour early 90s types, haircuts, leather jackets, attitude etc?

The Parkinsons were shit. Sorry Chico if you did happen to be in them but they were.

Who else then? Kinesis? They were also shit :hmm:

I saw a Jimi Hendrix "tribute" infront of about 50 people burn his guitar at the of his show, to which my angry, fed up, annoyed, pissed, even more angry, misserable mate replied "Pity you didnt do that at the fuckin' start".

Which prompted much laughter and applause and a very embarrassed Jimi that was kneeling next to a shitty flamming guitar.

I would pay to see this.

Who would you put on, of you were the promoter of the BANDFITE2010 tour?

eta: In fact, I will start a whole thread about it

Symposium used to smash their instruments up, even as a impressionable teenager it seemed very predictable and cynical to me. Never really a fan of the band.

Maybe Chico Enrico was in Symposium? or maybe Earl Brutus?

back on topic, i saw Pearl Jam backing Neil Young, ages ago. it was pretty good except one of the PJ guitarists did a big rock star fit and smashed up his guitar.

you could almost hear the sound of 20,000 palms connecting sharply with 20,000 faces.

20,001 if you count Neil.

ah shit, it was the Parkinsons - i've just checked

I thought the Parkinsons were fucking ace, Alfonso was great value. So it means I've seen Chico live about 5 times :D

Syd Vicious lamping an audience member with his bass guitar in redneck country not crap.

Reading that Liam wrecked Noel's treasured Gibson during their recent spat not crap too.
