Music for spotty virginal teenagers but the Holy Bible is the best thing to come out of Wales apart from that fit lass with the pert tits that I went to uni with.

Soundgarden. Are my biggest loss i reckon. I can't believe i never got to see them live:( .

i can't count bands that disbanded cos of death so nirvana/alice in chains etc are off my list.

ARCHERS OF LOAF
Grandaddy (again)
Afghan Whigs (not least to have saved us from shit like The Twilight Singers and The Gutter Twins)

another vote for grandaddy here. the libertines.

Really?
What's with all the Grandaddy votes here, I loved them but I was just listening to The Fambly Cat' album in the kitchen and it is quite weak
compared to the others, I think they split at the right time.

you're right about Skunk Anansie mind,

dreadful business

Perhaps, but Sophtware Slump was an exceptionally good album.

Well, part of the deal about splitting up is that you never get to see them play live again which is a big shame. Saw them loads of times and they ranged from shambolic to sheer absolute bliss.

Last time I saw Grandaddy they were morphing slowing into Weezer - keeping all the power pop stuff but shaving off all the great, weird edges. They split up not long after. I wasn't hugely surprised.

Seconded, although to a lesser degree I do like the Twilight Singers too. Dulli's best guise was in the Whigs. I'll also nominated the Delgados, although Emma Pollock's solo stuff is pretty good.

In some ways, I'm glad some of the bands mentioned split, as it prevented them from sullying their place in greatness. For example, we've just about managed to block "The Second Coming" from our memories and just remember the Roses' debut and "Turns Into Stone". Would more stuff not have sounded like the Seahorses or Brown's solo stuff? Another example is MBV, with "Loveless" as the legend that destroyed Shields' creativity.

I will nominate Take That though, firstly because they might have carried on being camp and great and not the stuff they come out with now, and secondly it might've prevented Westlife assuming their omnipresence in the boyband stratosphere.

Everyone seems to say she's tall. I was on the Amnesty stall at the Nottingham Rock City gig of the Stoosh tour and she came round to say hello beforehand - I remember her as being about 5'7'' maybe, tops, which is tall for a girl but not that tall. I always figured it was an optical illusion caused by the blokes in the band being quite short . .

A few bands I would have liked to see go on a bit longer....

Dubstar
The Beatles
Leftfield
Rocket From The Crypt
Orbital
Gene
Guns N Roses (original)
Jimi Hendrix Experience
Shamen
China Drum
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Sneaker Pimps (Mk 1 with Kelli Dayton on vox)
Massive Attack (original line up)
Jane's Addiction
Kenickie
Atari Teenage Riot
60ft Dolls

She walked past me in a club once. Didn't think she was that tall really. Stunning to look at, but not tall...
