Bands That Logic Dictates You Should Like

yep Interpol for me too. and Slint and Shellac.

even though i like old heavy metal i still don't like the 'big four' - Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer.

some blokes with bumfluff moustaches and sleeveless denim jackets will no doubt beat me up because of this, at some point in my life.

I've been phenomenally underwhelmed by Scritti Politti, The Replacements, Beastie Boys, Daft Punk and British Sea Power despite their credible influences/contemporaries.

he is most famous and respected for producing other people tho. his voice is a bit ropy when he sings himself.

oh i know that. i know his music and know a lot of it (spesh early stuff imo) is really good.

i'm not sure if it's actually him that gets on my nerves or the fact that people (often who know little about the breadth of reggae music) cite him as some kind of god and the only 'worthy' reggae artist.

over the 20 or so years i've been loving reggae, i've heard this Perry = God thing endlessly from blokes, the ones who seem to be purists and only like dub - (also who look down on most reggae singers)

tbh, i don't like his voice much either....

i think my objection to him is similar to Jefe's bob marley one...maybe. :)

i see what you mean, he is like the "token reggae artists to get features in Mojo magazine"

Future of the Left - loved mclusky, had a lot of time for Jarcrew but doing nothing for me. Then again, it's early days.

The Smiths.

If my record collection is anything to go by (and granted, I do actually own 'The Queen Is Dead') they should PROBABLY be one of my favourite bands. I should also love Morrissey too I guess by extension of that. But, well...

...is all I can think about them really. They do nothing for me whatsoever, no spark in me when I listen to any of their songs, no buzz or excitement or any desire to jump around, or try and go out and smash the system, or do a bunch of drugs, or have sex, or feel bad because a song might remind me of a girl. Hell, I can't even get depressed from listening to them. Nothing at all. Just a big, fat...

meh
