Bands/artists you like but are ashamed to admit to

Crazy Horses is a great tune. Anyone who doesn't own it should be ashamed. Even the Beatles couldn't ruin that song.

Well, actually, they almost certainly could.

I'm the same but some people are ashamed and won't admit to stuff.....to be honest i just wanted Sojourner to admit to liking "Double fantasy" and it was the reason i posted this thread :D.
Actually thats not true, it's just something i've noticed over the years...there's a hell of a lot of snobbery about music and it does amuse me :)

I love Take That but I'm not ashamed of it. :)

And I've got a soft spot for 'Brothers in Arms' by Dire Straits and some Genesis tunes as well. And power ballads, and Bon Jovi, need I go on.........?

Actually, everyone here thinks I've got crap taste in music. Which is fine, they don't have to listen to it. :)

*shrugs*

Well, actually, they almost certainly could.

They'd put a brass band on it. And a false, 'psychedelic' ending. And some sugary harmonies <shudder>

I secretly listen to 70's soft rock by monumentally uncool bands like The Doobie Brothers, Supertramp, Mike Oldfield and The Alan Parsons Project. :(

I do remember really getting into The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway as an impressionable 8 year old.

It being a concept double-album with a gatefold Hypgnosis sleeve design, it was just this sprawling self-contained weird world for me to investigate. (-In retrospect, it's a minor miracle I never got into Dungeons & Dragons after hearing it. :D)

But even with Genesis, I'm sort of almost proud it was only that album I succumbed to, and not any of their others.

I'm not sure 'snobbery' is the issue. There's lot of stuff I think is shite, and I'm happy to say so. Does that make me a snob?
Not at all, it's an opinion and music is very subjective. I'm just interested to see which bands people admit to liking because some people i've spoke to won't admit to it in public, in fact get very embarrassed which is just stupid imo.
Oh i forgot to mention i liked early U2 and had the early albums *waits for abuse* :D.
Although have to say i hate U2 with a passion now.

You need to shut up about the Beatles then don't you :p

Queen vs The Beatles.
No contest.
One of them had a visionary bass player whose work got sampled to hell in the hiphop world. The other is in court arguing over which part of his £825million to give to Heather Mills.

I did a clear out recently, the second great purge. You wouldn't believe some of the crap I had. A Limp Bizkit album FFS. I mean, I can understand owning it, there were a few brief seconds in 1997 when it looked like they might be good, but then you bought their first album and realised they were toilet. But not having gotten rid of it for a fucking decade! Having only listening to once or twice! I mean, really.

Glad you said that - saves me having to.

BTW I liked U2 too in the very early days. Not any more though. think I've still got their first single somewhere.

There's a lot of albums / bands on this thread that I'm thinking "Oooh, I remember that, I must get it".  :D

Is that very wrong?

When I get home I'm going to knock up a Mark Chapman macro for threads like these.

I don't like any Beatles songs - hand on heart - but I like "Jet" by Wings.

Everyone quite likes Jet. That doesn't count. If anything, it serves to shed doubts upon the authenticity of that piece. Who is really responsible for it, because clearly Paul McCartney had no hand in it, or it would have sounded shit.

I love Jet - and most Wings.

I'm guessing this is unacceptable too.

Jet is good...just can't imagine that tool having written it, that's all.
I've forgotten other Wings songs but if I find an old album I'll listen again just to see but was out one night and someone played Jet and it still sounds good in a cheesy way.
