Ballet pumps

My office gets really hot and I don't generally have to go anywhere. The car park was only across the road so I thought it would be fine. Monday-Wednesday I was wearing proper boots but I got complacent today. I'm not a fan of closed in shoes so pumps are perfect for when I can't get away with flip flops.

How can flat shoes possibly be bad for your posture ?????

I never understand this, it's like saying going barefoot is bad for your posture !

They talk about flat shoes in that. I could never work it out either but I get a bad back and sore calves if I wear flat shoes (as opposed to no shoes) in the summer

I don't get it as i wear flat shoes more or less all the time.............i get the bit about your calves hurting if you go from flat shoes to heels but i don't see how it hurts your posture as we didn't evolve wearing shoes ????

Should add that i wear flat shoes all day (from 7.30am onwards) walk a lot and stand all day at work and very rarely have back problems.......

I could never work it out either. Maybe it's to do with the feet being confined and flat as opposed to being able to move more flexibly and thereby absorb shock better? Maybe Felix could elaborate for us.

Hmmm, p'raps it's more to do with the type of flat shoe, especially if you end up clawing your toes to keep 'em on.....iykwim !

As much as i love shoes (and boots even more) i would quite happily spend my time in bare feet if i could.........don't have any corns or bunions etc either and walking on grass with no shoes is a thing of joy !

I rarely wear shoes in the summer. I reluctantly put on sandals or flip flops if I'm going out but apart from that my feet are naked :)

Stobart has ballet pumps and walks around the house on her toes...which is better than me on eggshells. She says its' very good for the leg muscles and tone. I'm taking her to the ballet in March to see Swan Lake and I hate the ballet almost as much as I hate Opera and Rap. :(

They mostly look rubbish. Some of the more structured ones are okay worn with trousers or a long skirt but I've rarely seen anyone in them and thought it looks anything but rubbish.

I dislike ballet pumps too. They don't do anything for the leg, get grubby really easily, the soles are too thin, and highlight manky feet/wonky toes. It's a No To Pumps from me.

I love them! I love flat shoes but don't always want to wear trainers etc. Got six pairs, I have.

Though they do feel bad for your feet - and despite reading the article linked to I still can't understand this as barefoot is our 'default', and I never wear heels.

I can't keep them on, narrow feet and wear orthotics so its a no no for me. I wear crocs far too often though, they are just too easy to bung on to take the dog out. I have loads of nice shoes that I never wear because its too wet, muddy, icey or slippy or a combination of all four. So depending on how freezing/wet it is, I rotate between crocs, wellies and ugg boot thingies with hiking soles (from Merrell). The marsh (where I live) would eat ballet shoes in hours.

oooh - i just thought of somthing all the male ballet pump haters will get in a froth about: Birkenstocks...:D

So. uh. My mind is now empty of any flat shoes apart from ballet pumps, crocs and birkenstocks. What is allowed?

Nothing. We should all totter around in FMs all the time regardless of comfort or practicality.
