Ballet Heels

you hang around dirty hippy activists you aren't allowed to have a say on this.

and yeah Rihanna did wear ballet heels in the Umbrella video, it was teh hotness.
Me hanging around with hippies doesn't change the fact that your taste in shoes is tacky not sexy :p

Don't get me wrong that shit isn't day wear, it's suppoused to be kinda tacky. But it can look very good.

No Revol, those red things are horriffic.

The red ballet shoes are impressive as a piece of design, like one of those random sculptures a yuppy would have in their lifestyle apartment, all clean smooth lines and shit.

You know what, these make it clear for me exactly why I dislike high heels. Because they take it to its extreme conclusion - you can't do anything at all in ballet heels, and there is a touch of that in all high heels, for me - a fetishisation of disabling women, like footbinding. I don't find it sexy, I find it disturbing. Call me an 80s feminist throwback.

The thing is, high heels are meant to be an every day fashion choice (yeah right) - ballet shoes are about sex. It's not really comparable.

Beyonce has done ballet heels* in a video.

*typed as hells. I didn't realise I had an opinion on this one.

no sex should be pratical and functional too, anything else is alienation, come the revolution brother and sisters all fetishes shall be abolished not merely the fetishisation of the commodity.

Still a bit strippery with the platform, but lovely buckles:

oddly (or maybe not) gaijinboy has a similar feeling about high heels. I just love love love shoes and I have loads of high heels that I just can't wear!! Years of trainers only means my feet have spread.. I've been trying to train them into heels over the last few years but I fear it's too late for me.

He hates it when I wear them.

The ballet shoes though - that's a bit mental... :D Although I can totally see why someone might want to wear them - you'd just not be able to move at all!

Well I think that's my point. I have less of a problem with it as a fetish than I do as an everyday thing.

Also I agree with revol68 about men's clothes. Whenever I flick through the men's section of a clothing catalogue I'm struck by how dull it all is and how little choice there is.

I always wore (sensible) heels at school, but in the last 6 years have worn pretty much trainers/flat boots only and became awful at tolerating heels at all. I love the way high heels look though and have a couple of pairs I'm trying to train them into at the moment.

Wear these to the next bookfair and you can drink for free.

You can even take the heel down to 5 inches.

Rihanna is not wearing ballet heels, it's someone (probably not actually her) wearing ballet shoes and dancing on their points. (It's about 1min 40 in)
