Ballet Heels

Which is only one small part of the range of movements employed, so it is a complete misrepresentation.

it's just a name. a name for a pair of shoes that *nobody* is going to buy in the hope that they might actually be able to dance ballet in them. there's no "misrepesentation".

Pogofish in a fetish shop

"Those trousers look MOST unsuitable! How do you bend over, nevermind go to the toilet? And those pants without crotches! What a draft! You'll catch a chill. Let's go to Marks and Sparks instead :)"

No but I still fail to see how anything that awful could "get" to anybody?

they're fetish shoes - you either have that fetish or you don't. I think they're minging too but to say they "misrepresent the innate nature of the ballet shoe" is a bit special of you :D

Yes, I've been in the company of someone in a stupendously expensive outfit that looked stunning & let them drink to their hearts content but failed to cater for another rather essential function.

Which was quite funny in its way! :D :D :D

ETA - Here he is, on the right:

You HAVE to make sure ballet heels are the correct size. If they are, it is possible to teeter a few steps, and if they aren't its even impossible to bloody well stand up in them.

I have to admit to rather liking them... especially if they've got cute li'l padlocks on an ankle strap,

I don't they are bought for doing much unsupported standing in. ;)

You know what, these make it clear for me exactly why I dislike high heels. Because they take it to its extreme conclusion - you can't do anything at all in ballet heels, and there is a touch of that in all high heels, for me - a fetishisation of disabling women, like footbinding. I don't find it sexy, I find it disturbing. Call me an 80s feminist throwback.

You're an 80's feminist throwback. :D

Actually what i'm often envious of the fact woman are allowed to indulge in things that are impratical, frivolous and simply about aesthetics. Even the common idealised beauty types are based not on male beauty as such but on strength, (traidtional) male beauty ideals carry overtones of power, forcefulness, drive and steeliness, woman's beauty is more of fragility, softness, a kind of beauty for beauty's sake that makes it like art, it can be seen in womans fashion and how diverse it is whilst mens stuff is dull as fuck.

Disliking something because of it's extreme conclusion is a bit odd isn't it? Surely you'd end up disliking everything, seeing as everything has an extreme conclusion.

Anyway, these shoes are foul. In fact, I'm a bit worried as I seem to agree with Butterfly Child.

Last time I was in one of those, I ended-up in a discussion about the technical nature of the traditional Scottish Tawse. The inherent oddness of the situation didn't strike me till later! :p :D

Was that the one in Gorgy Rd?? :D
I really like the buckle shoes revol68 posted. Wants!!

I'm getting concerned about the number of shoe threads pogo seems to be frequenting ;)

Yes, you were there too.

Have been in places thst sold fetish gear since but I think that was the last time I was in a specialist's

Yes, those buckle boots are the best on this thread so far. :)

You know my preferred footwear is boots, so why is that surprising?

I agree with you.
