Ballard Short Stories ID?

I think these are from the same collection...

  1. The one with the answers to questions or questions but no answers - from a psycho? Someone who is in an istitution?
  2. The one about the thing where you only have one way to look into a room so you can hang things from fishing line from the ceiling to fuck about with the perspective? To conceal, I think, a moider.
  3. The one about overpopulation and them finding a wallpapered over door and a secret room of their own and ending up with even less space that everyone else but it's OK cuz it's theirs all theirs?
  4. The one about time slowing down and it's going to stop so come chap sets about arranging it so he's halfway down after jumping off a roof when it actually stops?

I've just bought volume 1 (out of two) of his complete short stories so there's a good chance (50% no less) that I can ID them. However the volume is some 800 pages long and features a multitude of stories that I am reluctant to thumb through in an effort to recognise the above short stories.

Do you have any more information?

No more information - just that dredged up from my memory.

You going to read it soon? Should all become clear :)

I'm not even positive #3 is Ballard anyway

It's next up after I'm done with Me, Cheeta which shouldn't be too soon. If I come across them, I'll refer back to thread.

It is good but sometimes I feel like I need a reference manual for all the Hollywood stars. I'm sure I'm missing out on a fair bit of the humour as a result.

true, true.

It's actually quite poignant in places too, which is obviously absurd but you get dragged in :D

I certainly remember this story. To be honest, I don't recall that Ballard was the author but he might be. That's no help whatsoever. :o
