Baghdad-on-Thames

Well, OK. Chinooks I can sort of understand as transport for those so privileged that they feel they might be in danger if they had to mix with the proles below.

Why Apaches though? Apaches were designed to kill Soviet tanks and really aren't all that much use for anything but killing people and blowing things up in general.

pilots have to fly to practice so probably just a training flight lucky bastards:mad:

re coup if it ever came to that its more likely to be a fleet of minibuses than trucks and armour whole fleet management to thank for that:D

Chinooks go over my office fairly regularly.

Had a helicopter go over today but not sure what it was.
The doors were open though, which looked pretty cool.

A friend was driving on the M25 recently when one rose above the horizon and just hovered looking at the traffic. Scared the crap out of him.

Both the Apaches and Chinooks tend to land here when they come into London - its one of the few areas big helis can land in the square mile.

Think its a TA centre or similar & they use the Thames as a flight path.

They tend to head down to Battersea for the big heliport there. I was under the impression they used the river for navigation until I was told that the real reason they fly over the river in built up areas is because if they crash they will land in the water meaning that there's more chance of the crew surviving and won't destroy part of the city.
