Fucking perverts everywhere on this thread.

I mean you'd expect PO, wih his Subway-degraded tastebuds, to think that an ocean of sugary ketchup is an acceptable topping to the humble bacon sarnie, but now we're onto bloody cheese as a matter of course too.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..........

;)

Bacon not crispy, I like to be able to chew it and get all the flavour, not scrunch it. Thick soft white bread yes. No butter, lets taste the bacon fat. Brown sauce not that red yuck. NOT TOASTED.

People have given their lives to protect us from the toasted bacon sandwich.

Untoasted if wholemeal bread, toasted if white bread is all that's available.

With brown sauce and crispy bacon.

Even the thought of soft white bread makes me heave. Bleugh. :(

Well normally I eat wholemeal bread and will make bacon sandwiches with it, but for a classic bacon sandwich it has to be soft white bread. Not just any old white bread, certainly not Chorleywood Process cotton wool. Proper no additives white bread from a small baker like the one near me. Ideally it will be stone ground wheat as well.

I wonder if Maple syrup would work in a bacon sarnie or would it just make the bread fall apart upon picking it up?

kill the heathen

its brown sauce white bread lots of butter

It depends on how you cook your bacon.

If you like crispy bacon, toast makes the whole thing too dry unless you douse it heavily with the brown/red sauce. (Brown for me, thank-you) The other alternative to adding some moisture back in is some mushrooms. Fried in all that fat that you cooked off to get the bacon crispy, of course.

If you like your bacon non-crisy, toast works really well. But you're 2x the heathen then, IMO.

Oh no, you have played the mushroom card!

There will be hell to pay now. I hope the moderators are ready for this. You are of course wrong about the butter. No butter is necessary, it brings in a whole wrong flavour, a disharmony. Mushrooms though, that will call for a judicial enquiry at the very least.

Now you see, I say lightly toast.

That way you get the best of both worlds, Just toasted enough to have a bit of a crunch... but not so much it takes half your pallet off.
