Daydream should have been a hit single though.

Erik Satie could've sued for copyright, except he's dead and they'd probably have ignored it.

Still, I loved BTTP. Probably saw them live more than any other band, I bet.
I reckon we played at the Deptford Free Festival in 93ish too. God, happy days. I still stand by my comments about New Model Army on the other thread though.

Theres proabably an muso thread in pop songs that are ripped off from classical melodies....but it would be dull. re NMA (again...who started this was it me?) I used to know one of 'the militia' from nottingham who only had one ear....he was probably born that way but I always liked to think it got ripped off during a version of some early track live (betcha for instance)....how many other groups have a collective noun for their following? what were people that followed the mission (eugh) called? Eskimos? a militia of NMA fans....and eskimo of mission people?

seen geezer live many times.

He was their sound guy for a bit, not sure how long. I went on tour with the Planets doing their merchandise and he was doing their sound then. I think Al, who was in an early incarnation of the band did their sound most of the time.

I was at that too!!! Didn't they play it most years, along with the likes of Skunk Anansie??

Why did that little festival stop?

We used to goto those aswell ( lived round the corner).
I think it moved to Clissold Park. I have vague memories of the last one, with Creaming Jesus playing.

back to the planet played the fordham park festival in 92, and Melody Maker printed a picture taken from behind the stage, looking into the audience, including an 18 year old spanglechick on the front row with her gob open... a brushette with fame..

I'm not sure about that-- the Deptford Urban Free Festival (Fordham Park) became the Hackney Homeless Peoples Festival (in Clissold Park)?????

My memory of particular years is a bit vague but I feel sure that the Hackney one started off before the Deptford one died ... I went to both several times ....

They were defintitely seperate festivals.

totally separate, for sure.
my mistake. I though Deptford just got too big and so the organisers moved it. Wasn't it about this time that Wango's stage got torched?
