When did it happen, btw, that so many non-teachers ended up getting two weeks at xmas???

I made a management decision to close down (well, not have staff onsite) over xmas, then took another 3 days off last week cos it was me birthday

Why? Jealous? :p ;)

I took it out of my annual leave. Still 12 days left to take before the end of March.

I think I need a new job. My current job is on paper excellent for my sector with my qualifications and especially at my age, but I'm feeling really uninspired and uninterested. There's a million things I could/should be doing and I really can't get excited about any of it.

I felt like this for a couple of months before xmas, took 2 weeks off and I still feel the same :( No-one notices if I don't put the effort in and I get praise for doing the very bare minimum.

If I didn't have all the debt from last time I'd go back to uni in a flash and study something that interests me more this time.

<winge over>

Read this in the paper over Xmas, and it rung some bells when I read your post (apols for presumption, if way off the mark): -

Does work drag? Do you start clock watching at 9.35am? Is the only thing that motivated you to return after Christmas the fact that your employer hasn't blocked Facebook yet? If the answer to these is yes, you may be suffering from "rust out".

Yep that's about the size of it and now I've got a tag for it: I'm slowly corroding. Does Cillit Bang make any products that can help me? :D

I don't fit completely into the model though. I am a "younger worker" but I have been promoted a couple of times recently, but my day to day job hasn't changed at all and I'm a "Senior Manager" who doesn't have to manage anyone

Haha, that sounds very, very familiar... I feel like you do about every 6 months, then I get promoted and forget about it.

This time though, the promotion was amazing, and I'm now a director of about 11 companies. It's wicked :D

Was back last week, coming in to work today felt ok though. Cycled in, which always, always helps.

And I can't actually wait believe it or not, get 2008 started properly.

For anyone else who is back, hope you have a good first day.

peace
It's been odd; a couple people are still on leave, anothers off ill, my boss has gone home to tend to his little boy. So it's just me and the other boss in a very quiet office.

Getting back into the routine's proving a bugger too, I actually took half a minute to remember my login details, and been spending the afternoon trying to remember where docs are on the network!:rolleyes:

Posted at 5am this morning and have just got home at 5pm this evening  although it's not all been work in fairness.

I finish at 3:30 tho' so spent an hour smoking hashish in a muslim cafe before coming home

What a fucking busy day tho'.. I did enjoy it, which helps.
