It was brilliant, as ever.

Full report later :)
Shut up! You are making me jealous! :D
I am going to try to get tickets in 2007. I have never been before Looks like you all had a great time, despite the mud and rain.

fraid ive always failed in my attempts to get tickets. used to go to the phoenix which was just after glasto and hear all the sanitation orientated horror stories
This year, the smell was infinitely less whiffy than previous years, and bogs were still being located stocked with toilet paper on the Sunday night!

The drop pits are always an unpleasant sight though, often forming a car-crash compulsion to look down into the Stygian depths therein...

Can we have a seperate blog, so people like myself can be told / reminded what actually happened? ;)

Eavis reckoned that bad weather makes the event more interesting, with people less likely to be knackered after a day in the hot sun later on.

I was walking around the site after the horrors of Friday night and most people were beaming as they waded across newly formed rivers and bogs.

Well, those with wellies were ;)

How many bands did you get to see on your list?

As ever, I failed miserably to see even a tiny percentage of my 'hit list', regularly getting hopeless distracted by the wonders of Glasto..

The people with the canoes cracked me up, they really came prepared!

I thought the Doves were brilliant. Who were the two black female singers, on stage on Saturday night? I only caught a bit of it on tv, they were really good.

I looked out for Urbanites but didn't see any I know, I thought I caught a glimpse of Stig at one point but couldn't be sure.

Not many:

The Baghdaddies
The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain
New Order
Babyshambles
Fourtet (I think)
The Beat
Dreadzone Sound System
Krafty Kutz
Two Lone Swordsmen

Loads of other little bands and others I forget about, I was mainly stuck in the haze of the Dragon Fields :D

Oh yeah, and Coldplay but I don't like talking about it  was the lowest point of Glasto'... worse than losing 1/4oz and £20 :(

Femi Kuti rocked. Go Team were fuckin' awesome.
Brian Wilson lived up to his legendary status while Van Morrison looked like a grumpy old bloke doing the shopping (but still sounded great).

I'll have to try and remember the other bands... :D

I wanted to see Van Morrison, but he's famous for being a shite performer to watch... aurally amazing tho'

Can't be done with brian wilson... I was listening to The Ukulele Orchestra knockout some Hawkwind covers

...he would of loved it then Stobes :p

Good to hear the rain didn't fuck the festival for everyone ....sounds like you guy's partyed on regardless.

btw...I read that friday (I think) was really hot...how hot is really hot?...'cause i looked around to find out and all I could find was that it was 21c...but surely it was hotter than 21?

As a military history buff it was great to get close to the Somme experience. Some lightening did strike rather too close at one point, but apart from that me £40 Argos tent took all the shit, no sweat. Anyway, everyone seemed pretty cheerful strolling around in the mud. Due to a personal oversight I managed to develop a slight case of trench foot Sunday morning.

Moving on from the weather conditions.. I had a great time touring the band stages.. highlights for me were

Chas N Dave
Brian Wilson
New Order
The Undertones
The White Stripes
Royksopp

Discoveries were - The Stands - superb guitarist playing alt country, Soulwax - mixture of 80s electro and heavy metal, Ambulence Ltd and, err, Dave Edmonds - singalong r and b. Elvis Costello also did a good set. Steve Earle - just caught the last few songs of his set.

Ian Brown was a laugh.. played alot of Stone Roses stuff, some of his solo stuff was Okay, changed his jacket about 5 times during the set, and had the best on-stage groupies of the weekend.

Disapointments - Echo & The Bunnymen, - sounded very tired - or maybe I've seen them too much, and Tori Amos. - She was good, but not really what you want to hear on the final night. - Interpol - boring.

Other bands I've forgotten about all ready - The Dears, Editors, KT Turnstall

Also heard acouple other blandish bands in the new bands tent, and manged to puke up half way through the Go! Teams set - the white wine caught up with us.

PROD seemed to go down v. well on the Friday night - although dodgy as fuck track selection - where was Queen for example.. . Also went along for 'Guilty Pleasures' at the "Pussy Parlour" - to hear afew cheesy tracks. Sunday night spent at the Glade and Last Vagueness with a couple of friendly blokes from Newport..

And no, I didn't go anywhere near the Greenfields - apart from bumping into JTG & Spacehopper was a hippie free Glasto.

(remembers a few more)

Alabama3 were excellent, White Stripes were fucking massive, Steve Earle passionate and GLC impressively convincing.

That was Basement Jaxx, and I will begrudgingly agree that they were quite good in that they put on a really good show, well from what i saw on TV aswell :(

Well despite the flooding, the mud, getting food poisoning on thursday night and being sober for the majority of the festival because of it, that was still an amazing Glastonbury.
Highlights for me would be Carnival Collective - a 30 piece samba band with brass section playing drum and bass! The Beat, Cassette Boy and dj Rubbish - probably the funniest thing I saw all festival, The Bug, The Magic Numbers, my friends fire show- Chimeara, which was very impresive, Brian Wilson and probably some other things that I'v forgotten about right now cos Im still quite tired.

Just back and can't be bothered to write much but........Brian Wilson gave me the best Sunday afternoon in the sun, ever.
Loos were fine, mud was dealable with and the atmosphere was brilliant.
The only low point for me was when I had to go to up-chuck after one of Dub's Benelyn based cocktails   :(
Even the storm was the best and longest I've seen. :D

As a first timer, I have to say the mud didn't bother me in the slightest and I fail to see why everyone is so fixated on it.

Highpoints: lots

Lowpoints: being sold chalk for £20, meeting Hollis just before the end of the festival

Got more fucked last night than I ever have been on just one pill. Fucking hell.

Bedtime I think.

I just got back- we fell asleep outside our tent till 2 this afternoon...

It was ace- I was slightly dissapointed on Friday, as I thought the rain and mud would dampen the spirits somewhat. It didn't seem to have too much of an effect though.

Highlights

Seee - fucking amazing

2 Many DJs last night was really good, but too busy to stay long for
Ska Cubano

Second Division
White Stripes
I actually quite liked James Blunt as well
DJ Marky and Pateif (spelling?)
The Levellers
The Beat

Lowlights
being dragged to watch Coldplay. Utterly bland derivative toss- 'Yellow'? Beige more like it.
Buying pills that didn't work (but then ones that were ace)
The heat of our tent this morning
My phone stopping working on the first day and preventing me from meeting up with urban types (In Bloom, Random- sorry about that).

errr.... I'll think of more tomorrow

I'm bathed and smelling beautiful now

high points - I'm still grinning at my backstage pass with "Performer" on it - never thought I'd see the day - it made an old man very happy

I loved the Broken Family Band - best band on the planet at the moment, Brian Wilson was great

The pies were amazing (the Marrakesh Express was so good I've brought one back for tomorrow's breakfast)

The benelyn, champagne and coke cocktail was a particularly interesting experience

I could have done without the nine and a half hour drive home ...

oh and fuck me! doing PROD in the most amazing "tent" in the world at Glasto was just out of this world ...

.. I think I might cry ....

His 9 year old son wasn't bad either

Had a great time, as ever. Lovely to meet a fair few Urbanites :)

One of my favourite moments was when we were stuck in the campervan field all day on Friday because gate C was shut - the Undertones were vaguely audible in the distance, and suddenly dozens of heads popped out of vans and awnings simultaneously to yell "Jimmy Jimmy!" :D

I've come home with a bag of knitting wool, some Palestinian oil, a Hindu god, a Monkey Magic mousemat and a wobbly pot I made, so I'm pretty happy. :)

Plenty to say, too tired to say it!! :)

Biggest regrets -- missing New Order and Brian Wilson.

But it didn't matter! Saw loads of other excellent stuff.

More tomorrow.

amazing glasto, maybe best ever :)
got back to cardiff bout 4pm after queuing for hours in the midday sun for the buses, still all good humoured tho.

me and some mates were doing the wristbands so got to camp behind the farm right at the top. got there on tuesday and it was glorious and silent.
really really hot on tues weds and thurs, difficult to move about. the storm was mental and i stayed in the tent for the duration, it was one of the biggest storms i've ever heard, rivers going down the hill and building up against peoples tents and stuff. managed to step in a few huge nud puddles over my boots but not too bad. it definately did not dent the spirit of most people there. there was a sanctuary tent near us that had free suncream, place to chill and enough space to sleep 140.

highlights - all the amazing stimuli all over the shop, the happy people, even got emotional a few times at the scenes in the greenfields and lost vagueness.
that narrow landrover in mutoid wste was crazy and deadsilence on friday and sunday on the pirate ship were rocking it, great show.
the dance village was impressive and properly havin it all day and night, so good down there and going on til 3 was a touch. saw a few acts down there that i can't remember who but were really good and got the crowds going.
actually got to see some stuff, most of which was blinding
smith and mighty, koma and bones, dj skinny iirc, iration steppas, ian brown (good to hear a few roses tracks) van was good but moody, bryan wilson was a good show and it was a good sight to see everyone jigging in the sun, glc were well funny claarts. pondlife mc's from cardiff opened the continental drifts stage with the innerfield rig on thurs afternoon which was good and got the early comers going.

lowlights - not sorting it out to get to prod even tho i burnt a cd and brougt a 7", sorry dub. and only meeting 2 new urbanites, hiya to pieye and dirtysanta, nice to meet you. went down the cider bus in thurs and couldn't find anyone. cider was nice tho, as was the pear cider
also went thru the dragon camp but didn't see the urban den
having to trek about was harsh, but worth it.
crowds and losing people.
the 'upscale' catering outlets and increased rubbish and frivilous shit.
twats with ridiculous amounts of stuff, never seen anything like it
had to have a go at some woman for having the tap on full blast getting all the mud off her wellies when there was just more outside anyway, she totally didn't get it
stone circle, not as crazy as years gone
did not see any fights or (too much) dodgyness either which was different.

anyway
it was totally glorious, beautifull, wicked, diverse, funny, sunny, happy and rocking
and i only got given a 4 hour shift, ha ha, thought we had to do 20!

woohoo
have a good recovery all :)
