B Sides people that need a shout out

The b-side to the Spitting Image - Hold a Chicken In The Air song is the gem 'Never Met A Nice South African'...

As it happens, I met quite a nice South African the other week.

I know loads of them tbf. Not sure if they outnumber the bad ones...actually they do (maybe not in Cape Town).

See SA on a big community sporting occasion and you'll see the very best in humanity. But I digress...

danny baker once did a radio show playing just songs that artists did in foreign languages - back in the day it was normal to rerecord your pop hit in french, german, etc, and these versions would get put out in those countries. And why not! Good tradition i think

Bit disappointing that the 'Yeah Yeah Yeah's aren't 'Ja! Ja! Ja!'

I think they did another in German too, possibly.

Also 'Dead Souls' one of my favourite JD songs ever. B-Side of 'Atmosphere' originally if you bought the ultra rare Sordide Sentimentale French version of it. Yes, Factory decided to release one of Joy Division's most iconic songs on an obscure French record label no-one had ever heard of so it was practically impossible to buy. THAT'S WHAT FACTORY WERE LIKE. It used to be worth about £100 even way back in the 80's.
The last time I saw one of those for sale on ebay (at least a year ago) it was going for about £1500.

Beano's in Croydon used to have a copy of 'God Save The Queen' on A&M. They wanted a grand for it about 15 years ago. They wouldn't even let me have a look at it when I asked. :D

ETA: one went for over ten grand recently.

Ok maybe I exaggerated a bit - I've just checked ebay and the last one sold for £799 in August. Still a pretty handsome sum for something that would have cost about a fiver when it was first released.
Nuts isn't it? I mean Atmosphere and Dead Souls are good songs, like, but fuck me I'd want a car for that kind of money. :D

The U2 B-side to the "When Love Comes to Town" featuring the mighty BB King sees Bono's sensitive side shine through in the cover version of Patti Smiths Dancing Barefoot:thumbs:

Here's the tune in full...

It is, of course, Timewarp. Technically the dub version of the vocal record 'Nobodys Got Time' and as so attributed to The Coach House Rhythm Section. The backing band of, and appearing on the B side to...
