"Away Day" - uurrrghh.

have always hated these team-building out-of-office experiences but got a new job and they put on a really good one! quad-biking, 4x4s, paintball, archery, sniper-rifles, axe and knife throwing. food was awful but we had a great time. tbh its the people you're forced to do this with that make it or break it and my new colleagues are loadsa fun. :)

paintball don't half hurt though. :o

Wassat? Do they let you drive in diggers?

That would be ace

It's down on the Somerset/Devon border, they have all these JCBs n that for people to mess around with

That may be so, but the original Diggerland is in Kent

I take little notice of attractions in the more mundane half of the country

Gosh, your "awaydays" are more interesting than ours! On our awayday, which lasts for two days, with one night in a crappy hotel (usually at some airport or other crappy venue which is dirt cheap (okay, so we are not wasting the members money; I know, I know), doesn't have a decent pub within taxi ride, never mind walking distance, sells alcohol at highly inflated prices because of the latter), we have to bloody work! My employer's idea of team building is to make us sit round a table and list all the different policies of the union, or to sit round a table and list all the different ways in which we can make the workplace a better place to work.... etc. etc. You get the drift. But there is no paintballing, or digger driving, or anything which might be fun! The closest we get is to have a quiz, but a quiz which is solely about the union, its history, and our membership, ffs!

*sigh*

My union ended up in an industrial dispute with its own office staff over working conditions. They were of course in another union. It was resolved but I don't know how, mere members were not supposed to know about it.

Is an out-of-office experienced mentioned earlier anything like and out-of-body experience, do you hover over the office looking down? (rhetorical question) ;)
