'Epic' and 'technical' are both phrases you'll hear used to describe certain types of death metal in reviews and things. I don't know if they'd be referred to as actual genres though. I think they're quite descriptive of that stuff - all those very precise odd timings and stuff.

Had an Autechre mix taped off the John Peel show that was the bollox - definitely be digitalising that one when i get round to doing the rest of my tapes. Preferred their dj set to a whole album of theirs, which is a bit too hard work for me.

EDIT: The Peel mix opened with this one track that had a vocal that went "welcome to techno central" - sounded like possibly 808 state on a good day - anyone know what it is?

Been hunting for a few years now and finally found it! was 808 state, tune called Donkey Doctor
cracker. I think the Techno City vocal is a sample from Cybotron - Techno city (<<bear in mind its from 1984!)

should really check out all the 808 state stuff - only really know pacific and cubik. goes on the list!

nexus 21 did a version/cover/vocalsample of techno city - i reckon it's that.
by the way, the new album is out digitally now. still waiting to finish downloading it.
and they have another 12 hour radio show coming up on tuesday 2nd march at 6pm.
though i'm sure it will be downloadable soon after.
