Australian Prime Minister - Wet Cry Baby?

I think that it's OK for him to get all emotional about the fires. I just watched him speak (on You Tube) in mandarin and he comes across as intelligent and articulate.

Well after watching some of the interviews with the survivors I will admit to feeling a tad emotional so fair play to him.

What those poor sods have been through, well you would need to be a cold hearted bastard not to be moved by it.

His upset was genuine. Give me that over the bullshit crocodile tears most Politicians like to turn on and off like a tap.

Fucking hippies.

Fucking hippies.

Tsk tsk

Some don't agree with you and you reach for the first cheap insult

Now its cool for boys to cry, you mustn't stab other children or be horrid to them - didn't you learn that at school?

What a vicious childhood you must have had Mr Spymaster
Did you get a whack for playing with matches? Is that what this is about?

I bet you feel you have very large Testicular parts, do you feel their wieght pulling on your brain?
It must be hard having such a heavy load stretching and dragging on something so small
Why dont you just have little cry about it, you'll feel soooo much better

Tsk tsk .....

Go weave some lentils.

PM's should be about pec's and fishing.

Ah, it all makes sense now

You call yourself SpyX cos you hoped to be fishing rod whipped by some stripped to the waist ex KGB bod - thats why it annoys you to see a non violent leader weep BEFORE hes sent the tanks in

Heres a pic of a lizard suit nutter so you dont have to feel so wierd and alone like

Something like that although Vlad looks a bit marshmallowy in that pic doesn't he? I reckon I could 'ave him.

Anyway, Rudd's still a wuss.

Burning to death would be pretty fucking grim. The stories and pictures coming out are pretty fucking grim. Cars with melted alloy wheels, cremated victims. As the Guardian put it, he's "a man who has seen things none of us should see". What do you expect from him?

The cold, hard face of a professional killer apparently.

I guess it's what he's used to from our politicians, so it *must* be the right reaction.

Spy has been on an afternoon fishing trip and seems to have hooked a couple of posters. :D

The guy's in the Labour Party ffs. Whaddya expect. He will ruin our proud nation, more than any raging inferno, just like Blair ruined the UK :(

The fires are nasty, I have been listenning on the news, I know some people in Victoria & hope they are OK.

It was said that if you could see the flames of the fires you were too late to run or drive away as the fires are moving too fast.

People staying with their houses had to have a fire emergency plan, and it had to be a good one.

I know what you mean, Mal, he's hardly front row material for the Spartan phalanx is he.

Didn't he used to run a coffee shop somewhere?

I actually warmed to him because of it tbh
Me too. Instead of exploiting the situation to show everyone what a great, strong, media-friendly leader he is like Blair/Bush etc, he's actually showing humanity, frailness and compassion.

The stories from there are so horrendous there really isn't any other appropriate reaction TBH.

Imagine having a leader who actually gave a fuck...

how could he not be emotional at a time like this?I think spy must be bored to post shit
Maybe our fellow australians are very important to us,maybe kev heard the same story on the news as me,about the finding of a female skeleton with 4 childrens skeletons around her:eek::eek::eek:I cried at that.
The police have 300 people listed as missing
Devastating to have to deal with
K Rudd is doing well, fuck you spy
eta K Rudds' staff have been complaining at the workload since Kev got the job. They cant keep up with the man,he has been getting the job done and most aussies are happy with him.Preferred prime minister to Turball 74-26 lol

I was quite amazed myself, i've never seen a leader of a country like that before, i.e. someone who actually has a soul.

Newsflash: Rudd is not the first leader to have to deal with terrible tragedy.

Every British PM has had to deal with some tragedy or other, Bush managed to control his emotions publicly after 9/11 and even Ken Livingstone, cunt that he is, played a public blinder during and after 7/7.

K Rudd is doing well, fuck you spy

Oh, alright then.

:D

They've all got souls, it's just that most prefer to bolster their citizens morale by showing strength in the face of adversity (in the UK during WW2 it stopped us being invaded and later fostered the "blitz spirit"), not breaking down in tears and mumbling incoherently.

As I keep repeating, it's not just the crying, but his inarticularcy under pressure. He comes across as a bumbler, someone you can't rely on in a crisis, indeed, a bit like Harold Bishop.

I hope for the people of Victoria that I am wrong about Kev and he's not the "flake" that Mal suggests.

I totally expected this reaction from the Urban fluff brigade, and played for it by deliberately making the title and OP as provocative as possible. I just disagree with all of you.

I read during our last general elections that when people elect politicians 60% of their decision is based on which party they represent, 35% on the character of the candidates and barely 5% on their actual track record and policies. That could of course be bollocks but this is a personality thing, there's no right or wrong here. In my experience your average Aussie is a pragmatically tough, no nonsense character with whom Rudd's tears are liable to go down like a shit sandwich. If this was him showing empathy and concern I can envisage him being hoist by his own petard come election time.

I shall follow his career with interest.

I wish the people of Victoria well.

:)

Yeah well among certain people thats being a wuss

Arsonists or Pyromaniacs?

There's a difference, i'd have thought the latter was the correct term....?

Arson is the criminal act of deliberately setting fire to stuff. Pyromania is an illness that causes people to enjoy starting fires and watching shit burn.

The bastards who started these fires are definitely arsonists. They may or may not also be pyromaniacs.

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Nations need strong men that can lead from the front, not sentimental wallflowers that need counselling the second that tragedy, inevitably, strikes.
