We'll be there anyway while in the UK. We are definitely going to France, England and Scotland, as we usually do. Mrs D would like somewhere different as well this year.

We always take the car, there is something we enjoy about driving around, roof down, exploring new places. The idea of doing a week driving is not an issue for us. But, if it is somewhere further, e.g. Croatia, we'd fly.

Cape Verde - though you probably won't be able to take the car....

Ferry to Lanzarote from Cadiz. Keep the car n hit any of the other islands you fancy, should you be so inclined.

A day and a half or so either way, but boats can be fun!
