Atlantic Road/Electric Avenue murder/stabbings 12-01-08

Khalil Nasseri, 24, had been visiting the grocers owned by his cousin Asad when he was stabbed to death by a gang of men, one of whom had tried to steal the orange two days earlier.

The man was caught taking the fruit on Thursday and told to leave, but vowed revenge. On Saturday evening it is believed he returned with four friends.

Mr Nasseri, who had nothing to do with the initial dispute, had been outside the shop, helping two others clear up, when all three were set upon at MS Nasseri Quality Fruit and Vegetables in Electric Avenue, Brixton.
It's too sad for words.

But I like to think that the little cunts responsible are really feeling the heat now.

I can't imagine what it must feel like to have murdered someone - especially over such a frivolous thing.

Unless you're an absolute animal, I imagine it's going to fill your every waking moment, and give you nightmares. Every night. And then there's the fear that someone's going to grass you you, or the CCTV will reveal you.

Good. Let the cunt squirm until he's inevitably caught. Be even better if he watched Louis Thereaux last night!

The thing is , how much of a conscience can you have in the first place to decide that taking revenge over an orange by getting your mates armed with knives to stab people is the right thing to do?

They probably think they've done nothing wrong, sadly... You know what some people are like, they blame everyone else and never take responsability for their actions. Most people caught shoplifting would have stayed well clear from the shop once they were caught. They probably think they're above the law.

I'm not sure. Kids that wave knives about rarely actually want to kill someone - it's more about bullying others, succumbing to peer pressure, looking hard in front of their mates and being all 'gangsta on yo' ass' (or whatever the vernacular is).

Doubt the "Law" as such has much meaning for someone prepared to do this
Think they operate with a sort of loose Rules of Engagement, ie you annoy me and I am liable to top you - most likely depending how many rocks/cans of K consumed that day.
I think the most worrying thing is that he collected a bunch of others to help

I don't think that's the case. I've been in a few, ahem, altercations recently, including a pretty unpleasant case of having to step into a bus-based argument that went a bit far - ending up in having a load of 14-16 year olds chasing me off the bus to have a pop. Ended up ok really - jumped off the bus by the local and after a few handbags a load of people came to my aid, followed by a load of police.

The thing that strikes me is how much peer-pressure and an desperate willingness to save face drives things like that, even to the stage of ridiculously unpleasant violence. Strip away the bravado and I reckon even these shits may be having second thoughts. Unless, of course, they're chaotic users, which seems a little unlikely.

Mindless animalistic turds like this murderer sometimes make me want a return of the death penalty - but then I eventually come to my senses.

The kids that "wave knives around" will usually use them on someone when they get scared, but very often it's their knives that are taken off them and used to kill them.
Also, there are real problems in London with "postcode gangs", if a kid gets off at the wrong bus stop for example, in some areas he could get a kicking or get stabbed just for being in the wrong area.

Two young deaths over a fucking stolen 10p orange would be even more tragic, IMO.

Fuck. There was nine of them.

With just one arrested, that's eight people still on the streets who willingly took part in the murder of a shopkeeper over the price of an orange.

its just so petty.

what type of directionless wasted useless rubbish lives do people have to get together to steal peices of fruit in an effort to make an impression ?

its just so fuckin rubbish for everyone involved

"It was just a small, small argument on Thursday and then three days later the same man came back with eight guys.

"My shop was closed at the time and I could see there were a lot of people. I ran over and Mr Nasseri was lying on the floor."

How fucked up must you be to want to stab someone over a tiny argument two days later?
And what kind of cunts willingly become part of this murdering coward's gang?

Someone's dead over - what - 10p? It's just terrible.

What I really, really can't get my head around is that they came back two days later. I can imagine someone saying 'I'll be back' in the heat of the moment or whatever, but then to actually come back - twice, wasn't it, the greengrocers was closed the first time - with eight of your mates, tooled up and intent on killing and maiming, over an orange, is just... just...

his mates were probabaly taking the piss that an immigrant shokeeper got the better of him or similar

as i said, its utterly rubbish ansd ciminally sad for all involved

erm .... not to speculate about [hopefully soon-to- be] open court cases or anything, but wasn't there some discussion on U75 over past few years about the market traders being harassed/menaced by other more informal 'retailers' in the market area recently?

The whole thing is horrifying; there may be a slightly longer backstory to this particular thing ... rather than just some young kid run amok and trying to look hard in front of his mates. Or maybe not.

I really, really, really hope that this doesn't escalate along race lines, because the potential's all there.

It wasn't the shopkeeper who was murdered. It was his cousin.

The suspect arrested is 26 years old, hardly a young kid. Not saying they were all 26, but...

The murder victim was 26 - the suspect is in his early twenties, according to the police.

I understand you're rattled - so am I - but I don't think anything like that is likely.

Just had it confirmed by police - the suspect arrested is 21, not 26. See www.southlondonpress.co.uk in a few mins. Victim is 25 - not 24 or 26 as previously thought.
