Athletics World Championship

Just watched it.. pretty amazing alright. Can't wait til he breaks 19.

An absolute delight to watch, all other record breaking efforts seem so so long ago now.

God, those women are magnificent!

:hmm:

I assume you mean the high jumpers. I thought I'd got the wrong channel and was watching World's Next Supermodel or summat. Blanka Vlasic is stunning as is Emma Green. Simply gorgeous women, all arms and legs and lean muscles with gorgeous faces *sigh*.:cool::cool:

Being the thicko that I am:o, I've only just realise that Bolt's 19.19 secs over 200m is equivalent to 9.59 over 100m - 1000th of a sec slower than his 100m WR.

Fuck me:eek::eek::eek::eek:

He was 2m faster than Michael Johnson's previous best (which is a quarter of a second faster than the next best run!), whilst having an aggregate wind disadvantage of 0.7m per second. It might not sound much, but in all kinds of categories it's almost beyond belief.

True but then he's also, what 5.5 inches taller.....everyone was saying he was too tall to be a sprinter as you need explosive energy in a compact frame. Maybe he's physique means he simply can run faster because after these performances you know he's been tested more than any other athlete.

Heats of the 4x100m tonight - can't wait to see what Jamaica do, wouldn't be surprised if they rest Bolt for the final.

Hate watching the GB team though - the baton changes make me feel sick :(

I saw on the some athletics website that it was on at 8.35, but forgot to allow for the time difference and missed it. :(

I have the hots for the high jumper Blanka Vasic.

There was a link for "local time" somewhere on the page. I did not calculated properly my shift at the store yesterday, and pretty much beat my commute record to watch the championships :D

And while the Women's high jump results are stagnant for the past decade or so (the competition was quite good, however), they are simply stunning :o Perhaps only the pole vault comes close.

It's pouring mad in Berlin now. Javelin qualifiers have stopped and the track is looking like a pool.

edit: and they're back...

So, the US botched both 4x100m relay events AGAIN. Sometimes I just wonder if they shouldn't just quit them :D

It's got to be a silver, if they let that push stand you'll be able to rugby tackle in the home straight by 2012. Completely outrageous by the Spanish 'winner'.
