yep .. everywhere .. is if THEY need 'em .. and they still getting built on .. one of the scummiest things new labour has continued was allowing allotments and playing fields to be sold off :mad:

still some amazing plots and gardens around though on council estates .. caribbean and bengalis down here do some of the best ( if we racial profiling that is! :eek:) ..

You are a very good politician Durruti but this ' hi i'm Durruti of the opposition' is laughable.Opposition to what !

My tune is constant - i have never claimed to be one of your trendy lefty crew or a memeber of the not so trendy back to the old skool 80s lefties . As far as i am concernd these boards represent the politics of the last century.

As has been demonstrated politically speaking middle britain play the old 'lets kick those who cannot kick back ' and what do you do Durruti ? you side step the issue of responsibility. Its all some neo con cabal -or spiv bossess

'opposition to what' ..

well i thought the OP and my posting is fairly clear what i oppose .. capitalism and it curent thatcherite/neo liberal clothes ... so tell me/us why is it wrong to talk of neo liberal politics and spiv bosses? why is it 'sooo last century' ( p.s. i have never mentionned neo con cabals! ) .. and if so, WHAT is/are the issues?

The Issues are freedom and new ideas are required as is hard thinking.May irefer you to my post on this on my other thread deary

Another issue is the biggger picture - what we have now in europe and perhaps globally is the rise of a European Metropolitain Social Elitist catergory- And some of the posters on these boards and the views they espouse fit neatly into this group.

It is no longer good enough to be a 5-year b&b radical. I am sure there are soome amongst us that see how most of the threads on these boards are inter connected. I also see how you have spotted the gap in the market Durruti and you are very clever make no mistake but you are ( as are many on these boards ) indulging in the politics of absence and soundbite

So what do we get on these boards? we get Marx said Gramsci said etc what did Marx say on the link between delapidated council housing and increased CO 2 emissions? What did Gramsci say on the rise of the world wide energy poor. Apart from Monboit who i have come to admire of late who in the media are coming up with inovative journalism that challenges power? None of them

The gaurdian thinks its fine to boot people out of there council houses the fabian society which used to be left wing and historically tried to help the poor want to bury them.

Why? Because housing is needed not for waves of immigrants but for the new 'E .M S E' Look at manchester , leeds for example and some parts of london and you will see policies which are endorsed by labour liberal democrat and conservative partys which are in effect social cleansing projects.


There is a difference between council housing - social housing and affordable housing yet not one journalist or urban brainiac has seemed to realise this yet

I do think socailly speaking that we are approaching a tipping point and unless we ALL start to think objectively and put books containing the politics of the past behind us whislt being prepared to stand and make the personal and in the case of some posters egotisitical scarifies required then some of us might as well start to practice the lost art of mamouth hunting or get ready for some borg like assimilation

finally YOU have spoken .. and it is you more than me who has specialised in soundbites previously but whatever .. it is interesting what you have written .. ( though you have misunderstood some of what i have been doing here in qouting/ raising marx etc ;))

but i still do not get the 'politics of absence' .. is what IWCA / HI doing what you refer to nit challenging this middle class take over?
 
just an update .. the enquiry continues! as far as i can see .. they had to interviews hundreds of people but why no outcome yet seems a bit odd

Merely pointing out something highly relevant that you missed out in your rush to point out that d. may have missed something (though from the timing of the BBCs edits it's highly likely IMO that the " arrested on suspicion of arson..." was added after his post).
