At fucking long last. It's been a slow and obvious, lingering death. I'm just glad it's now officially confirmed, they've deserved every single loss.

Will Villa now become like Newcastle and Sunderland, careering between the two divisions, or like Leeds, seemingly forgotten by everyone bar their immense fanbase? Or will they immediately rebound after which everyone will forget about this season?

The Arab states are wobbling, as are Russia economically (no more stupid football money). Seems Randy is more desperate than ever to sell. I like the idea of Brian Little playing a football directorship role. We will bounce straight back and probably find a more stable position in the Premiership once again, but it will still be a long way from the days of European football we used to enjoy regularly. Starting from scratch basically. No bad thing - it will give younger players and younger coaches a great oppotunity.

Or be like Burnley or Huddersfield Town once great footballing institutions now reduced to perpetual minnows, and remembered as powerhouses only by local enthusiasts and football anoraks. Or worse still, like their Victorian contemporaries Wanderers and Clapham Rovers, be dissolved and forgotten...?

My guess is Villa will be back in the Premier League in a year or two, and in a good year having the odd exciting top 8 finish. Who knows a cup success is not impossible (so long as your team remembers that it is allowed to have a shot on goal). If in the last ten years Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth and Birmingham City can gain major honours, there no reason a similar club like Aston Villa can't have a once-in-every-twenty-year trophy celebration.

Has there been any word on ticket prices for next season? Villa Park is a fuck-off huge stadium to fill, even bigger than Elland Road and Hillsborough.

Just heard Tom Hanks, yes Tom Hanks, say he should raise some money for something or other....and give it Aston Villa.
On London News.

The other question is do any players have release clauses in their contracts in the case of relegation? Would anyone stump up anything for them, particularly the wages of Lescott, Richards, etc?

I've heard that Bournemouth are interested in Veretout. It just goes to show how far Villa have fallen if Bournemouth is seen as a way out. I mean, they are one of the few clubs (three) to score less than Villa in a game this season.

More attitude than skill. They would do well to get rid of him.

One of Sherwood's few achievements was to get the best out of him, and when confident and fit he is a skilful, intelligent, creative midfielder. Garde didn't rate him because he was the antithesis of the dull, desperately defensive football which Garde seemed to espouse, and he had a number of niggly injuries this year. I really want to keep him because I think he will knuckle down next year and show what he's capable of.

So, they prevented the ignominy of a record twelve losses in a row. That's the most positive achievement Villa fans have witnessed this season. Next season, and I speak honestly here, I see no reason why this record will not be broken. I hate the fact that I have 'feelings' feel for this club - I mean christ, it's just bricks and mortar, isn't it? Unfortunately, the place has been sewn into my bones through two generations, both on my mum and dads' side, and I will never be able to shake it. I don't understand those who don't like football just as much as those who don't understand why I allow my feelings to be overawed by eleven complete strangers kicking a ball around.

My daughter hates all sport, which is a completely alien concept to me. That said, it does spare you the repetitive Saturday 16:45pm football results 'dreadzone' - something I only have the pleasure of avoiding in the weeks prior to the football season restating, which is lovely.

Many rumours of a Chinese conglomerate taking over. There are no guarantees that they will do a better job than Lerner, but they could hardly do a worse one in terms of appointments to the board and footballing staff. New ownership can't come soon enough.

Yes, I heard that. I also heard their first signing will be somebody called Cham Peon Yip.
