bentley is looking increasingly more realistic... i would happily take him, always rated him, had a bad time at spuds but still

huddlestone..... seems ok, has potential, can turn a game when in form... i guess we could do worse.

martains.....i reckon he will go everton, saying that when fit he does have great pace and a bit of skill jurys out from me....

hleb... was a daily star link so probably bullshit but for 10mill he is quality and was amazing at arsenal.. perfect replacment for barry. If he has to go somewhere id love it to be villa...

john carew to man city.... fucking fucksticks. if we lose him too....and to make it worse... he has gone on record saying he is "flattered to be linked with them but wants to concentrate on the upcoming internationals".... in other words..."come get me, i'l go happily but cant say a word as im under contract"

MO'N has publicly disclaimed the Owen idea. It would have been big money for a risky player. More positively, it looks like John Carew's staying.
 
Same as ever. Lazy hacks link us with every name under the sun, MO'N and the club say nothing, bugger all happens until the last day when we buy two -slightly-above-average-but-proven premiership players. I hate to resurrect a relic of the D**g E***s era, but ITSOTP. Until then, you might as well stop reading the papers.

Still your away kit looks the fucking nuts this season....my brother emailed me and was "my b'day pressie is now sorted" and he hates the majority of Villa kits - last one he got was the lovely pinstripe away strip from 2? seasons ago.

I'm focussing on the cricket in the absence of any news from Villa Park. Fed up of seeing Players In None on the rolling SSN graphic! :mad: I've got a ticket for the Fiorentina friendly a week before the Wigan game and I sincerely hope to be watching a few new faces in action.
 
Current rumours:

- Stewart Downing from Middlesborough. Apparently out until December with a foot injury anyway, and why do we need him with Young and Milner in the squad?

- Tuncay from Middlesborough. A good player but I'm not sure how he fits in to the current Villa team. Perhaps switch to 3-4-2-1 with:
Knight - Davies - Young
Milner - Petrov - Reo-Coker - Young
Tuncay - Agbonlahor
Carew/Heskey

- Fabien Delph from Leeds. In keeping with the O'Neill philosophy of investing in good young British players, but won't be the finished article by a long way.

This is beginning to look like it may well happen. Worrying reports that Redknap is putting a bid together for Ashley Young! He wouldn't want to go to Spuds surely.
 
Someone sees things in Stewart Downing that I really don't. Wouldn't improve our squad at all. As for Spurs, they can fuck off. Right now, Ashley Young has the world at his feet. Why would he go to a club on (broadly) the same level as us?
 
Well I would quibble with the world at his feet bit, he's all pace and not much else. Regardless, I suppose it would be because Villa are showing very little ambition. Emile Heskey when you're pushing (well) for 4th? Ughughugh.
 
All pace and nothing else? You're talking shit. Excellent crossing, very tricky, beats his man all day - most teams double mark him out of the game. Won't argue about showing little ambition and that fucking carthorse Heskey though...
 
Crossing is good, granted. Can't say I've seen him beat anyone with something other than pace though. Don't get me wrong, he's good, and can be very good, but he's more of a Walcott than a Ronaldo/Messi. Pace is very handy, but tends to be overrated in the English game IMO.

We can agree on Downing though. Cannot comprehend what people see in him.
 
downing is shit. Really really inconsistent, i really don't rate him at all.

Harry redknapp makes me a laugh a lot.

We have been linked with him too, but the price Leeds want (depending on source, £5 - 8 million) is stupid, especially as he hasnt exactly set division one alight and is untested at a higher level.
 
alex ferguson has said at a news congerence today that he doesnt reckon he will be spending anymore money this summer so you should be safe.

There seem to be a stack of rumours going around that Zat Knight is going to the Dingles. Surely we're not going to sell one of only three centre-backs in our senior squad before buying. :eek::mad:
 
Vidic he ain't, but at least he gets in the way. There seems to be a bid amongst the other Premiership clubs to decimate our squad at the moment. Even Blues and the Dingles are buying players, and we seem to be in for no-one other than half of Middlesbrough's relegated squad. :mad:
