Aston Villa 2008-2009

According to F365 we've accepted 15mil + Finnan for Barry. Also Sidwell is supposdely on his way.

Hope that's the last of the Barry transfer saga and that we can get a few quality signings now.

Villa's new away shirt.....

If this is the new away shirt (3rd shirt possibly?):-

What do the Villa U75'ers think of it? I'll admit it that last season's away strip was very nice and old skool Villa. This one is not too bad as well, the V collar reminds me of the Hummel shirt in the late 80's (i think?)

It's alright. Hope it's the third one because like you said the white shirt was very nice and old school.

Sky Sports news are reporting that Sidwell is on his way to Villa Park for a medical. Fingers crossed ....

Not done yet. Just fee agreed.

This is why you look like a silly billy for posting sidwells transfer as done three weeks b4 anything is signed! He still wont get a work permit!

I reckon Guzan will be a no2 keeper. i'm hoping we can grab Green from those 'orrible cockneys to be our number one. Friedel is good as well

Not sure what Sidwell is like now but he must have been decent for Chelsea to go for him. not a bad signing.

Who else are we likely to get?

Finnan would be great if he's part of Barry deal.

Bentley is a long shot and will end up at Spurs

Miguel from Valencia would be good buy, so would Malbranque - who is class

I don't think we need Millner or Bullard tho, too average

this young Villain looks good http://www.avfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~1321199,00.html

this from AVFC official website! villa v odense starting line up - looks like the villa players are really starting to gel

VILLA: Taylor, Bouma, Garnight, Laursen, Sid-Coker, Petrov, Young, Agbonlahor, Carew. Subs: Parish, Barry, Harewood, Salifou, Routledge, Osbourne, Maloney.

A few things came out of that game. Mostly; where the fuck would we be without Barry? There aren't any other natural leaders in the squad. That was obvious very early on.

Thankfully, it seems Bouma has a dislocated ankle with no major ligament trouble. Looked very ugly initially.

We made loads, and I mean loads of chances, but only Ashley Young's moment of pure brilliance saved us.

Sidwell looked completely lost and out of place apart from one good cutting pass to Abby that he consequently scuffed. Those Two have to learn to play together. When they do, they'll be fucking awesome.

We're through to the next qualifying stage. Yay! But, we really, really can't afford to lose Barry. I suspect MON knew that all along, and judging from today's performance I suspect (and hope) that Barry has decided Villa Park is his home. He was fucking good given the circumstances. A fucking good captain without the arm band. We lose Barry and we lose any chance of anything!

Star fucking goal mind. Goal of the next season already.

And, 'Go ACORNS'. Excellent to see them get center stage amongst all the sponsorship hypercrap. Very fucking nice.

It's going to be a good season whatever, but another 6 signings (especially around right back) would be more than reassuring.

Both Barry and Villa making no comments on the new rumours. Apparently Liverpool still need to sell to raise more money. It's all getting a bit boring and frustrating.

Glad this Barry saga is over (for this transfer window at least) now lets get on with bolstering our tiny squad. The program on Saturday was a joke, they listed half the youth team to make up the 24 names. So that's four full-backs a centre half and another centre forward needed by my reckoning as a bare minimum. We find out on Friday if Guzan gets his work permit so potentially another keeper may be required too if it goes tits up. Also the draw for the Uefa 2nd qualifying round is on Friday, fingers crossed we get one of the lesser Scandinavian teams.
