Aston villa 2007/2008

Even from the other end of the field you could clearly see that it was Pennant who got up and ran toward Bouma...therefore retaliation and at least a booking or have I misinterpreted the rules?!

Taking the ball away from someone and then coming into contact with that person happens for the majority of tackles doesn't it. Certainly doesn't make it a free kick.

After a home defeat to Liverpool that was a vast improvement on last seasons fixture and a good away point at Newcastle that good have been 3 points, I'm looking forward to a very comfortable win against Fulham today.

Liverpool are proving to be a top 3 force. I reckon Villa are good for a top 6 place.

Proper measure of Villa at home today. Nothing less than a 2 goal win. Although, we still look a bit uncreative up front.

e2a; erm.... oh shit :(

Maloney! You fucking star :)

What an excellent fucking game. Should have been 6 -1 not 2- 1.

We have a squad of talent. Oh yes we do :)

Never mind the results, just look at the respetive lengths of threads. If post counts are anything to go by, we're leagues ahead of you, even though some of us have been posting here :P

To right. Deprived an excellent goal by another bad ref decision. How many shots on target? 90% full on attack throughout the second half. That was very impressive. I feel very good for the rest of the season. We're easily amongst the top 6.

we won a game.. thank god...

NOW PLEASE CAN WE MAKE SOME SIGNINGS!!!!!

we have a great starting line up that already is a force..maybe just shy of europe though....
but a few injurys and we are in the brown stuff...

right back, central defender (or two), creative midfielder and possably...one more striker?

and now maoney's going ..

woohoo...will be the tea lady up front next

That's been rumoured ever since he joined the club. I wouldn't give it much credence.

Zat Knight - promising player who has turned into a donkey.

Wayne Routledge - promising player who still shows promise.

Zat Knight, Wayne Routledge, Jermain Defoe AND Curtis Davies, if today's rumours are anything to be going by... (which they're not)

Zat Knight. I've always thought 'thank god he's not at Villa'. Now he is. Is MON thick?

I am certainly starting to doubt his managerial wisdom, even if the credentials are impeccable. This summer's transfer dealings have, if anything, put us backwards. Knight for the same price as Steven Davis??? Absurd.

But are they really? A couple of League Cups with Leicester, and then a handful of titles and cups with Celtic, where a lot of half decent managers could probably have done just as well. And two of his best players there - Larsson and to a much lesser extent Petrov - were already at the club when he took over. I was caught up in the euphoria when he got the Villa job as much as anyone, but I'm very underwhelmed so far, apart from his signing of Ashley Young and Scott Carson.

A very professional performance by the sound of it .... especially given the Noses' struggles against Hereford and Sunderland getting hammered by Luton.

Hopefully Maloney's goals will help to evaporate his homesickness and the goals for the others will help their confidence.

a thoroughly dserved win. Laursen was awesome at the back and everybody worked really hard.

You aint half got some pace going foward as well.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA! 'AVE IT!

That was a serious result today - everyone scrapped under some serious pressure & we got them on the counter. Chelsea were below par today, SWP apart, but Bouma, Reo-Coker, Laursen and Young all stood up today. Agbonlahor also looked good too. Result for for "toss signing" Zat Knight and all :D . Even a year ago,we'd have buckled under that kind of pressure...

hes still shit. You will notcie mr knight didnt actully do a lot defensivly it was all laursen centre back wise.

^^^^^^
:D :D :D

I was at Belfast airport watching the second half and I got threatened with being thrown out of the bar for jumping up and yelling when Gabby stuck the second one into the net.

Although Chelsea put us under siege, I think we deserved the win overall. That is undoubtedly the best result since O'Neill took over, and our first win against the top four for a very long time. Let's hope there are more to come ....
