Asparagus is the best

Posting here to join the asparagus love in. I think the season traditionally finishes on the summer sulstice. Have not had any yet this year but tomorrow I'll pick some up from a local farm for maximun freshness.

Sometimes feel that I miss out in the whole aspargus fun as I cannot smell aparagus pee!

we got two packs in sainsburys yesterday. don't know that monkeygrinder is that keen, but man - you cannot beat local asparagus in season. (ours was from hampshire, apparently).

btw - having some with steak today, and then maybe a luxury brunch with eggs benedict tomorrow if i can be arsed to do a hollondaise.

mmmm, had a lush asparagus stir fry a few weeks ago - have now requested some from Riverford for Friday :)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

i think asparagus and pea risotto might be next on the cards...

I've been wanting to make that for a while, but with the addition of broad beans and a bit of chopped fresh spinach too, yum.

Hugh FW did a v similar recipe last week.

Soft boiled egg
Top lopped off
Drop of cider vinegar into the yolk
Salt/ Pepper

then use the asparagus to dip as you would toast soldiers. Voila- instant hollandaise!

Bought some of the market which was grown in Doncaster !!!!

Tasted fine ! - always relate sparg to the Worcester area not Sth Yorks :)

We get hereford/worcester-grown asparagus in brum, but tis £2.20 a bunch :(
I paid £3 for a bunch yesterday. It was a big bunch though. I had a friend round and for starters I made asparagus with poached duck egg on toast. Was lush although the yolk was a bit over-cooked. For the main course i made a risotto with asparagus, fresh peas and spring onions.
