It's not "how long?" so much as "how steep???"!

Please bear in mind I live near some of the biggest mountains in the UK, so what sort of gradient we speaking about?? :D

Goes off to look at OS maps of the area. ;)

Anyone know if AC has a postcode and what it is? The OS map couldn't find it.

Just to let you know, the United Nations intervened, I had an adult discussion with my ex regarding our trip to Britan in July and I will be attending Ashton Court!

As long as it is 16/17 July!

I used to live next to steep hill in lincoln

bet its not like that :p

I'm thinking I may see if we can get down for this

It's very steep in bits but the steepness doesn't last for too long ! If you have a good run up mommentum can take you top ( just )

Its the running down in the dark whilst avoiding prats with bangers and then going down one hill too many and wondering around Ashton Court long after everyone else has gone shouting into a mobile phone....'he...llllpppppp I'm lost'

Just suddenly brought back lots of scary memories. :(

Forgive me, but living near big hills and actually walking up them are quite different things.

:)

Carry on.

I'll have you know I have walked up some very big hills. Monkeygrinder and I have walked up some of Lincoln's steep hills. You have to to get to the cathedral

Have you ever seen some of the hills up here? ;)

??

That's not even in Scotland, though it does look like it could be Glenshee or Glen Clova.

That's the road the Tour de France uses, innit?

No camping, it's a festival for Bristol (though we do allow outsiders in if we like them enough :p ). Fiver each day.

We are camping in the centre of Bristol at a caravan club site at Baltic Wharf - I'm booking it next week. Apparently theres a shuttle bus from town and that's what we'll be using.

There's space for backpackers /tents too apparently but it's not free.

Baltic Wharf

Edited to add: It's booked - we are coming WooHoo!

It's part of "grtho's summer tour" and I even turned down a wedding invite to come.

Now I'm a reformed charachter I hope this nice Christian family, prayer and hymn festical will have none of that drinking, drugs, loud music, 'orrible bloody anarchists and freaks and extra-marital sex that sullied my previous life. :)

A rare visit to the Bristol forum allows me to see this thread for the first time!

Ashton Court already has a mention in my Festival Season thread (sticky) in music.

I haven't been since 2000, but I enjoyed it a shedload then, and Stig rambled on about it so enthusiastically after last year, that I've decided I'm joining her for a both-day visit this year :)

Stig has friends we'll be staying with on the Saturday. Not sure yet which part of Bristol though ...

Nice one -- everyone should BOYCOTT wedding invites during the Festival season, in fact weddings should be BANNED between May and September -- as I've said before, weddings, sometines combined with the 'just realised' factor  are responsible for fucking up more peoples' festival plans than anything else ....

**(people are spectacularly, unbelieveably disorganised about dates!!! Never ceases to amaze me ...)

Oh I remember that

You were so sweet :D

I would very very much like to come along again this year and will try and drag Sig's aching bod (it's one week after the Marmot  ) with me
