As of Monday I am going to be a veggie (sort of)

Going to have a big fuck off pile of cold roast veg later with couscous and um... I'd normally have bacon or chicken breast but it is going to have to be feta methinks :)

Well I don't eat that much meat anyway, so I will be alright. My mum isn't impressed and I'm not even going to bother telling my dad as everything I do is "bullshit" anyway

Tell your dad he's a cock.

Well at least he won't be eating his dad if he is a cock. Cock-a-doodle-do. I give Firky till Wednesday lunchtime with this vegetarian project.

There's cold sausages in the fridge but I opted for a dinner of cold tatie salad and a pile of kumkwats

still really fucking hungry, may have to go on a cheese and bread bender.

theres plenty of protein in beans, lentils, cheese, nuts, seeds and all that fake veggie meat bollocks.

If you eat pulses/legumes (e.g. beans or lentils) with grains (e.g. rice or quinoa) you get all the amino acids that you need.

Try quinoa dude, it's like cous cous but way better.

Hehehehe - just seen this!

Bless.

How's it going firks?

Remember to eat protein at every meal if you can - and not just dairy protein either.... you'll waste away otherwise...

Not because I feel sorry for the little cute animals but because I have cut down hugely on the amount of meat I eat and I feel better for it. So - I am only going to eat meat for special treats. Birthday curries, christmas dinner etc.

I am SO going to miss my bacon, brie and grape sarnies :(

I think cutting out fish is going to be harder for me than cutting out meat.

Brothers are going to rip the piss out of me no doubt :(

Give me some tips or something on how to stay strong :D

why would you want to turn veggie on that ?

This has all gone very surreal. Firky announces his intent to go vegetarian and the thread turns into a discussion about sex reversal.

Don't do it Firky. Don't do it.

Not until you're 100% certain at least.

why shouldn't firky go into sex reversal? any reason for that?

You want a vegetarian bacon sandwich? Go to Holland and Barrett and buy some Redwood Foods brand vegetarian Rashers and make one.

Want sausage and mash? Buy some Cauldron Foods vegetarian Lincolnshire Sausages.

Want a pepperoni pizza? Buy veg pepperoni and make a pizza.

Want a beef sandwich? Buy vegetarian beef and make a sandwich.

Want fish fingers or scampi? Buy vegetarian fish fingers/scampi.

Lots of companies make the above but here's a sample:

It's not really that hard you just need self control. :p

If you *want* to do something or give up something, then you'll do it, right? ;)

I dont have meat in the house now that isnt free range (so basically none) it makes it easier to resist the temptation of bacon and stuff :)

Apart from when I get pizzas :(

BUT – IME, these types of products are usually made of heavily processed soya protein, which, I don’t think is particularly healthy to eat a lot of. I wouldn’t touch the stuff these days. Bleurgh. And if firky is doing it for health reasons as he says, then I wouldn’t recommend going down that route.

Just eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Make sure you get enough protein, not just from dairy, but eggs, pulses, nuts etc and I think you’ll be doing grand :)

Have you resisted temptation then firky?

The trouble is with those food is that they taste like much crapper versions of generally already crap industrialised meat products. Comparing 'vegetarian beef' to the real article is just laughable really. I'll give Cauldron sausages some credit - they're pretty likeable, but they're still not in the league of a high quality banger.

There's plenty of nice vegetarian food out there, but eating simulation meat products which aren't a patch on the real thing is bound to lead to disappointment imo.

I agree tarranau I've been eating my freezer contents in a bit to deforst it and had quorn covered in breadcrumbs with goats cheese and cranberry last night.

It wasn't all that tbh. :o

I'm looking forward to the honey and mustard quorn fillets though....
