As a celtic fan living in manchester...

on an internet full of fucken cretins you really do go the extra fucken mile.

no seriously I find it odd that you support Celtic when you're surrounded by far better teams in England to support. Like I said it all reeks a wee bit much of plastic paddiness.

I used to support Celtic in my younger days, wore the shirt into a prod school as well and being honest I'll never get over my ingrained hatred for Rangers.

yeah plastic paddies like you only want to romanticise from a safe distance.

i'd like to go to one of them places that me grandfather (4th generation irish) used to tell me about where horses walked through housing estates and they had to put them in the lift to get the coal up to the fourth floor - and they were so poor they didn't have a 3rd floor, so the horse would start to sing....

it was the brits that shot the horse in the end - thats why i support celtic now

so stick your 'plastic' up your Pog ma thon

i've been listening to enough wolfe tones, dubliners and cranberries to know more about irish politics than you ever will

the sad thing is that I can't be 100% sure that's satire.

The last line certainly is.

When did we start supporting teams based on how good they are anyway? Well apart from you that is

Well i choose Man Utd cos they were on the telly when I was wee, played exciting football and most importantly were neither Everton or Liverpool. They weren't exactly great when i started supporting them.

the kids in the school next to mine in finglas had cavalry. they used to charge us the odd lunchtime and wallop us with big sticks and hurleys. Even a small horse looks huge when you're 11. Our only defence was to get up on the bikesheds and chuck the weekend's empty wine and cider bottles at them.

i have a tear in me eye reading that... me oul granda, god rest his soul used to tell us that in the oul country the brits used to shoot anyone with a hurley so they had to tell them that they weren't hurlies, that they were giant spoons... and the brits got wise to this and make them eat soup with their hurlies (thats where the phrase 'taking the soup' comes from) - and its because of stories like that i support celtic

I support united because they're on the tv all the time and they aren't liverpool or everton

At least you had a granda, when they were small, both of mine had their arms and legs sawn off and were then used as planks in coffin ships, cheaper than wood y'see. The local rakehell club used the limbs to play an unorthodox version of cricket then roasted and ate them when they were too drunk to play.

I'm saying why do you support a bunch of fenians like Celtic when you're not from Glasgow or even Belfast, why allign yourself with one side of the crappy Old Firm rivalry? The only reason i can see is because you are a plastic paddy.

Who the fuck are you calling "fenians" ya fucking wanker?

I went to every post-ban United match in Europe till '99 when I gave it up as a bad job because the away crowd was being taken over by the kind of people Chorlton describes. It was getting more and more difficult to even get to the ground because of people in the group spoiling for a fight in every bar, on every train and every street corner on the way.

I'm a Celtic supporter (Hail! Hail!) and when I'm not sicknote I travel to watch them play. I follow Scotland around as well. I am a rare creature - a Celt who follows Scotland.

I think the point Chorlton is trying to make is that most Scottish clubs (with the exception of the Scum from Govan) seem to manage to travel without major incidents. We took how many to the final against Porto? 50,000? 60,000? Nare a bad word or fight, let alone the use of riot police. The fans could have used losing to a team which partly cheated its way to victory as an excuse to riot. We didn't. We partied on and rocked and rolled.

I might not have expressed my pov quite as Chorlton did, but I understand his point(s) and I agree with some of his sentiments.

yeah but to be honest english fans have got a reputation and the italian crowds are probably the worst in western europe for violence at the moment. I think English fans are judged on the past and it gives authorities carte blanche to treat them like shit, I mean the French cops sent in cs gas at the smallest incident.

Nice. Really nice. Are you just a bigot or are you a bigoted cunt?

i'm was actually brought up 'fenian'. The thing is chorlton would cream his shamrock boxers if someone called him a real fenian, it would validate his whole plastic paddy identity.

What is funny is how saying fenian gets jumped on but hun is used alot on this board and no one seems to bat an eyelid.

Get ta fuck ya bigoted prick. Think you'd last 5 minutes by shouting 'fenian' this or 'fenian' that?

Don't talk to me, loudmouth.

Fucking mug.

I wouldn't call anyone a hun.

And it's all about intent. There's a difference with saying "I'm a fenian" and "a bunch of fenians like..."
