I think the fat bloke was Daniel LambertThere's an oil painting in the Wellcome Collection of a grotesquely fat man that I'd have. I forget who it's by.
I must be soppy to the nth degree, then. That's my favourite painting in the National Gallery. The way she's groping with her hands, just a child really, looking totally bewildered and uncomprehending. I can stare at that painting for ages, contemplating being her usually. Sometimes I'm the executioner.Not morbid exactly, but definitely Victorian sentimentality to the nth degree. I prefer sentimentality of a Hogarthian sort.

This is called "The Frenzy of Ecstasy" by Podkowinski, and it is the Best
I think I've seen that - is it in the Gallery of 19th Century Polish Arts in Krakow?
Mine is another Polish painter - Jan Matejko. I like all his work but this is my favourite
