Art that blows you away

Isn't this considered cruelty?
I mean, locking away a morphed teenager in a basement with no lights at all.
And no food

:D :D

Slick, but Michel Gondry is better I reckon. Its more organic and doesn't rely on a wow factor to impress you. It is more of an emotional reaction, albeit it a positive or negative. This puts a lump in my throat each time I see it:

What was the video installation at Tate Modern three or, four years ago?

Slow motion divers filmed underwater. Four or, Five screens IIRC. It was fucking excellent.

But, the two video art things of recent years that really stick with me were at the Tate Britain, Beautiful Days show Three or, Four years ago also. Sarah Morris's Miami and the one with the garden sprinklers. Very nice.

When you see it

Just came across Narelle Autio and this took my breath away

when i thought it was a painting i thought 'wow' now that i know its a photo i am disappointed - i have muchly less respect for photographers than painters though - two different universes and painters are infinitely superior IMO.

The one piece I remember as having me completely leg-wobbly gobsmacked and in complete awe was this at the Museo Reina Sofia in Madrid. I'd seen a million reproductions of it, but nothing prepared me for the real thing

I reckon that is the most powerful painting ever painted, felix. So provactive that they even cover it up at the UN when they go to war. One of my favourites but it rests uncomfortably because of the subject matter. I'd love to see it in real life, only ever seen big arsed prints :(

I like traditional

Enjoy. :)

You like traditional? Get thee to l'Orangerie in the Tuileries Gardens in paris and have a butchers at Monet's 'Nympheas'. Bloody amazing - the sheer scale of the things alone is awesome and the way they are displayed so that you are surrounded by them is stunning.

And firky - Guernica is amazing, my all time favourite painting. You must get yerself to Madrid sometime - its worth the trip just to see it.:)

I have no idea why but it is still Yves Klein's IKB 79 that makes me go wobbly, that and the Fontana slashed canvases.

I reside in the 'Jackson Pollock is a useless arsehole, preying on the insecurities of wannabe critics' school
