Arsenal vs. Man Utd (Sat 12:45)

Youth tournaments are a pretty bad indicator of senior form though. Far better to blood the youngsters successfully in senior cup competitions - Arsenal have been noticeably better at turning potential into first teamers in recent years.

maybe, maybe not, even if Arsenal have turned out more first team players from the youths over the last few years, i would say united have a better record over the last 15 years or so, and we are still bringing some good ones through at the moment, how many have Arsenal actually brought through the ranks rather than taken them from other clubs?

what have their homegrown kids won yet? Fuck all squared.

i notice you are living your dreams through Arsenal now otherwise you'd have to talk about Liverpool.

How many PL's?

yes and the simple fact is that getting youth players through is always going to be hit and miss, to claim Man Utd's youth system is in crisis is a ridiculously short termist view, ironic for a Liverpool fan because they tend to have a very keen grasp of history.:D

It was noticeable how at 3-0 half time against prague that instead of killing the game off in the second half, they simply got even better.

It was noticeable how arsenal went to liverpool and played like the home team, making liverpool look like the away team, and that at fortress anfield. At times our passing moves just left the liverpool lads bemused and chasing the game.

The match never held any fears for these arsenal lads. They know what kind of football they're playing, they know if they turn it on no-one can hold a candle to them.

So none of this nicking it from united, i think quite honestly we will blow them away. We've gotta be looking at, what, 4-0, perhaps they might get a goal from somewhere. Now, what are the odds for 4-0 and 4-1?? I'd bet if i could.

If the country thought they could speak about arsenal and admire their football, then thus far is nothing. Wait till they deal with utd..

[we still owe them for when they beat us 6-2...]

Youse just about beat West Ham and Sunderland and only drew with Blackburn and Liverpool.

Expect revenge for last year.

Who gives a f*ck about youth policy?

Give me trophies and the style in which they are won....Wengers youth policy seems to be loiter around boys teams changing rooms from Europe and then nicking the best....not to many of that current crop are from the mean streets of Highbury and Islington....hardly that wonderful....Granted he does it well though he's had to as arsenal couldn't compete as players get older and start making the grade....

We shall see though our 'youth policy is wicked' seems like clutching at straws to me....

Like Utd fans banging on about winning the charity shield....:)

Yes but united have yet to come up against a decent team either, and they are without scholes.

True, but this United squad have done it last season. Arsenal are a new squad and haven't proven themselves yet.

have you ever thought that English youth are just not good enough?Recruiting locally has done fuck all for West Hams trophy cabinet. Anyhow we didnt have a youth policy (let alone a training ground) when AW came in. These things take time....

Game tomo....nervous as fuck. The Manc scum have a tendency to rain on our parade in the past. However this team is really the best I've ever seen on an Arsenal shirt (and that's saying something).Apart from lack of goals the game against the pool was trully astounding how precise and incisive they were, and this away from home, making the 'pool seem like the away side. If we play like that we'll stand a chance.

........

!!!!COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!

When they came up against a decent team last week they struggled. This when Liverpool themselves are in a mini-crisis. This will be a chance to see how good they really are this season.

I was at Anfield last Sunday i didn't think Arsenal struggled, infact I think they had most of the game in terms of possession and were unlucky late not to score the winner. It will be a tough test on Saturday, but i think they might scrape a result.

I've just down loaded the game (listened to it on the radio) and watched it yesterday. There's no way The Arse' struggled...lol

We had more tacking success and possession and territorial advantage.

I think the next game is where De Silva shows why we needed him match fit for the 'pool game. He can convert these chances we are (at the moment) letting slip (hit the woodwork twice...whilst all their efforts where saved)

Go to the Liverpool thread I've put the stats up there for the game.

Here's the link

What have they won? FFS most of them have only been playing first team football for a season tops, in that season they lost a cup final to the first XI of the most expensively assembled football team ever. These Arsenal kids have got a really long window in which to acheive success, if they don't get it this season, all they have to do is stick together until they do, they've got the class.

And we'll collect our usual big cheque and replace them with someone else who cost next to nothing. :p

exactly, richest club in the UK with next to fuck all to show for it. As I said if football was about maximising profits on imports and exports then yes the gunners would be the best.

Ok, lets put the 'my kids are better than your kids' thing to bed with the last word from Simon Barnes, a nuetral and the best sports writer alive imo

So sorry to see Manchester United’s youngsters losing so catastrophically in the What’s-it-called-this-year Cup. After all, Sir Alex Ferguson has been telling us for a long time that his young players were every bit as good as Arsenal’s. It’s one of the eternal truths of football: everyone has the prettiest boys at home. Until they are put to the test, that is.
:D

Big question for me is who to play up front - Do we play Adebayor as sole striker with Hleb feeding as he did so brilliantly on Sunday - or do we give Theo or the Crozillian a bigger role as they are brimming with confidence at the moment.

I think Diarra might be in with a shout too. Tricky for
Le Boss.

I reckon Arsenal will win it, they had all the football last week against a midfield of Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano, imagine what they'll do to Hargreves and Carrick?
