Arsenal FC Season 2007/2008

The same Eto'o who is currently on holiday in Africa? Unlikely...if LFC couldn't afford him, I can't see where Arsenal are going to get £30m from. He says he wanted Henry to come to Barca to play with him.
We have 30mill trust me

Why would Eto go to a club struggling to hang onto 4th place in its League and with a manger who's leaving in 10 months ?

Gallas contemplates jumping into the life raft:

"I will have a discussion with Arsene Wenger and certain board members to find out the objectives for the club."

He added: "Today I am an Arsenal player but I do not know what can occur tomorrow."

I am not at Arsenal to play for third place," he said
You're welcome :)

According to the Standard we're suppose to be buying Bakari Sagna from Auxerre for £7.5 million and are going to bid for Martins, interesting.

How can we be good, no Champions League income and a small stadium . . . no chance, I'm afraid :)
We did for ten years...Small stadium, no money...(figures soon) although we do have Wenger who was the diffence that lead us in to europe EVERY YEAR for the past ten years.

Easy....Gwan!!

;) :)

Bacari Sagna signed. I know Wenger was after him for some time...Very versatile player by all accounts. Would suspect he's in to cover for Africa Nations cup....Looks good (dodgy hair though! :) )

Arsenal have completed the signing of Auxerre full-back Bakari Sagna.

The former French Under 21 international has penned a long-term deal at Emirates Stadium after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee believed to be around £6million.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was delighted to have sealed the signing of the 24-year-old, who he does not see as just a right-back.

"We are delighted to have signed Bakari Sagna," Wenger told the club's website.

"He is a very capable defender and has played consistently well for Auxerre in recent seasons.

"He plays mainly at right-back, but can also play along the defence or in midfield. He is strong, quick and enjoys defending but also has a good offensive side to his game.

Right as promised some ACTUAL figures as to how much the Arsenal spend in relation to Tottenham Hotspunk(s)...;)

Read and weep.....

"London Calling" you obviously haven't a fucking clue about your club have you??

Typical Spud....

Edit to add...Yous lot have spent more money then Man U!!!......lol

Fabrigas...

"I am only 20 and all I have to do is enjoy my football and improve - and I want to do that with this team. I will try to win titles with Arsenal and give my all to Arsene Wenger.

"I will always be grateful to him for giving me my chance."

Now Fabregas is hoping Arsenal continue to spend this summer to help make up for the loss of Henry, and he believes the striker's new team-mate Samuel Eto'o would be the perfect replacement.

"I would try to sign Eto'o - he would be the ideal replacement for Henry," Fabregas said.

"I know it's difficult, maybe impossible, but it would be the perfect solution."

That Eto story just will not go away.

I think we should start destabilising Barcelona, give the cunts a taste of their own medicine...

Except the club has had almost no European football, and has been playing in the 9th largest staduium in the Premiershiip and has zero debt - literally zero debt.

It's almost enough to think it's not about "buying" but trading, and that matters like, just as an example, a £15 mill profit on Carrick might be relevant data.

But nah, the defining evidence of zero trading debt isn't relevant, trading isn't relevant, just how much you spend.

"lol"

Just to add, the club has no debt.

We're unstable enough...but Milan tried it before we played, Liverpool tried it and he still hasn't gone anywhere. He's good mates with Henry and I think he knows he's better off at Barca. Plus, he'll be buggering off for 2 months to play in the African Nations, which I suspect is why LFC never tried that hard to sign him.

It's a distinctly Latino gamesmanship that's for sure....don't worry, it's not our style.

Edit to add...Why any Black player wants to go to Italy is beyond me. Eto's not stupid (like Paddy:( )

Can't see him going to the gooners. Why would he? Besides 1 lucky run to the final, have done fuck all in Europe and will do fuck all in Europe. No good signings. Doubts about the managers future (and his ability in Europe). Play in a library. Club that would seem to be on the slide. Just doesn't add up.

Read the Fab article...that'll give you some clues about Wenger...and try and see what The Arsenal were like before him and what he's trying to do with building a glorious third team...his work here isnt finished....

As for Eto...all I want is to give to the Spanish what they are doing to us...he wont come...I know this...But lets have some sport!:D

I don't think you 'get' a lot of stuff do you :D

It's a PLC, the shareholders extract profit through seval routes, they don't donate. Joe Lewis has made a fortune from his majority shareholding in THFC. PLC, mainly through the increased valuation of the stock.

Fwiw, fans who understand accounting are extremely fed up with Lewis and Levy NOT investing in the playing staff - the plc has not accured any debt that would cost interest, and therefore reduce the stock valuation.

Fuck off you cunting capitalist... :D

Now no matter what I think of Man U's fans I've always had a great respect for Fergie...he tells it how it is.

Ferguson also expects Arsenal to finish in the top four, suggesting Arsene Wenger's side will be stronger for the sale of Thierry Henry to Barcelona.

He added: "They'll be in the top four without question, I'm more convinced they'll be in the top four without Henry.

"I just think it was time to go, I think Arsene knew that and I think they will be better."

Loves trying to pressurise his old foe, doesn't he :)
Nah...it's what all of us Gooners think privately...We love Titi...but time to go.

Anyhow the last ten years should be enough to prove what we are capable of...now that's a stat you cant argue against.

So whats it like supporting a team thats speant more than Man U ( ) and got nada as a result...?

Wouldn't know that feeling.....

fucking hell, the season's weeks ago and already i'm bored of the tedious spurs/arsenal fans dredging up facts and arguing the toss.

can you not just make another thread for all that shit, and leave this one to commenting on our results, be they good or bad?

cheers.

Like ManU, we're awash in £25 million players who love playing within Tottenham's wage structure -fwiw, we're paying less than Wet Sham and no more than Villa, etc.

You can arse around with numbers all day long but the main diff between Tottenham and the rest of the mediocrity is buying cheap and trading well. Wenger knew all about that once.

Did I mention Spurs have zero trading debt ?

As of March 2007, business magazine Forbes ranks Arsenal as third most valuable team in the world, after Manchester United and Real Madrid, valuing the club at £495m

A 2005 report by Granada Ventures, which at the time owned a 9.9% stake in the club, estimated Arsenal's global fanbase at 27 million, the third largest in the world.

Accountants Deloitte rate Arsenal as ninth in the 2007 Deloitte Football Money League, a ranking of the world's football clubs in terms of revenue, with the club earning £133m in the 2005-06 season.

They went a record total stretch of 995 minutes without letting an opponent score; the streak finally ended in the final against Barcelona, when Samuel Eto'o scored Barcelona's equaliser in the 76th minute.

You can keep your zero debt and your 'lucky CL run':D

My point (about zero debt) was to explain to Mr Robot's his claim "Yous lot have spent more money then Man U!!!......lol" was vacuous nonsense - it's impossible (in a 36,400 stadium and mostly Eurpean football) to have zero debt and "spend more than ManU lol".

What you're on about . . . I have no idea . . . "lol"

Mind you, the zero debt is changing during this window . . .

a friend of a friend's mum puts up or put up fabregas at her gaff and apparently cesc said that we are on the verge of signing a world star. someone big. fucking hope so. would put everyone at ease...
