All I try and do is provide the view of someone who has actually tried to deal with the aspects of policing discussed here. If you have an alternative source of information from someone who has taken part in, and run, armed surveillance operations, who has tried to put together the evidence for a prosecution, who has investigated numerous murders, who has dealt with the families of numerous victims, who has attempted to deal with (often competing) community demands, who has been involved in police training here and abroad, etc., etc. then fine. You don't need to engage with my "pig ignorance" and "backwards policeman's monothought".

But, if you are just giving vent to general anti-police attitudes, then you're part of the fucking problem, not part of the solution.

Well, it's been a week now. There have been dozens, probably hundreds, of deployments of armed officers in London and hundreds more routine stops / searches or whatever.

Can't say I've noticed the streets littered with the bullet-ridden bodies of "black youths" "gunned down" for being dressed similarly to another "black youth" running away after being challenged about "an outstanding parking ticket" or a "spliffs worth of weed". Is it being hushed up?

But, just to be clear, there eventually WILL be someone else shot by police for some or other reason but it WON'T be more than a tiny proportion of armed deployments and only a small number of those will involve someone later found to be entirely innocent.
