providing no primates were involved, which they didmt seem to be in this particular bit - Anne Robinson and Moyles dressed as apes - fair game:p

It's Ianucci - so people know what to expect - don't expect to be all shocked and upset, you should know by now what he's like, and I don't ever think he should be censored or stopped, no matter what he does.

It's art.

I'm not sure, there was something about it that unsettled me and I've laughed at some dark stuff... but I it just did not lie right; even with me! And I have a dark sense of humour. The bit about Michael Fish dying of an anal trauma wasn't funny but puerile.

If anyone posted such suggestions they'd be hung drawn and quartered. If you cast your minds back to that rape thread...

Nah, I didn't like it. This is coming from someone who has made 'rape jokes' but I just couldn't get away with it last night. Came across desperate and not clever like Brasseye.

I didn't see the show, BTW, I just think Ianucci is in a league of his own and should never be told not to do stuff - for a broadcaster not to carry it is another matter - but he should be free to say what the fuck he likes within the comedy frame.

so if ianucci said "black people look a bit like monkeys", that would be ok for you (both were said in the 'comedy frame')?

not trying to be aggravational btw are start another fight, just wondering where the line is for you (and others).

No I know you're not starting a ruck - it's a fair point.

Basically if I didn't like it I'd switch over, TV isn't compulsory - but he already crossed these lines with Jamm.

More on this later - I've got to sleep now before I just drop dead...

people who are seen as geniuses always get away with loads more, some of him and chris morrises stuff is just them being childish

same as me :D:D

I've been having this discussion with friends who enjoy almost everything in the Brass Eye/Nathan Barley mould, but Time Trumpet is dividing opinion. This kind of brutal satire needs to maintain a link with reality, and frankly Time Trumpet does not have that link, nor does it remain within the boundaries of reasonable taste to be interesting, never mind funny.

I am disappointed because I am the first to defend black humour... this is somewhat crude and desparate.

It was well funny. The show is great. Its certainly more challenging than past Ianucci stuff - but thats to be aplauded.

as for offensive - balls. Why? What was offensive about it? I'm much more offended by Little Britian and thier 1970's end of the pier depictions of gays.

I'm not offended as such, but it does go beyond the reasonable bounds of what I would describe as acceptable, even for dark comedy.

I thought it was a bit unpleasant, but so is most reality TV. The bit about being sick after riding Princess Di was also a bit nasty.

Well you'd probably have to have a pretty strong constitution to not be sick after fucking a decaying corpse...

I've said the motto of the necrophiliac society before and I'll say it again - "DIG UP AND DIG IN"
:(

I didn't find it offensive but desperate. the show has been good but lastnight's didn't really raise a smile out of me... well, the bit about people sitting on the bus flicking Prince Charles' ears was funny :D

See, I thought that was funny hehe. It was the rape an ape part that I didn't find funny. I could see the satire in it with reality TV and the brutality of it - but rape an ape... nah. Desperate. Poor ol' Ianucci!

I was just a bit disappointed with Stewart Lee, thought he could do better. I'll have words with him next time I see him in Stokey propping up the bar.

Well it made me cry with laughter. And I dont think it went too far.

But thats probably just because Im childish.

OK, I'll remember all this the next time someone is chastised on Urban for making a rape joke.

Init though? I'm a sick fuck, I remember when I told your bro that joke about the best thing about fucking a small girl, and even he just looked at me in disgust - before laughing! :D

I think that is why I was so surprised at my own reaction, never thought I'd react like that :|

Difference between Ianucci and Ninjaboy is an obvious one though.

Ianucci is actually funny.
