In the same circumstances you'd have to be wouldn't you? Proximity has never been a useful arbiter of who owns what regarding territory. Between the 15th and 20th centuries most European nations were land grabbing all over the globe. Britain and Spain were just better at it than everyone else. Than doesn't make it right but it was the policy which shaped the world as we know it. Argentina itself is a nation which owes it's existence to the genocide of the indigenous people. It's a bit rich for them to cry foul over the Falklands just because they're 300 miles away from them.
