Are you still getting take away deliveries?

My locals have all closed .. I wouldnt though anyway !

Ive been looking on youtube to try and replicate Singapore fried rice

There's a pub near me trying to survive by selling vegan pizzas out of the window ... perhaps later ...
perhaps luckily I was hoping to lose another 15KG this year ...

The only food delivery place we normally use is Dominos Pizza, usually averaged once a month on a Saturday night, the last time was 7th March so 7 weeks this Saturday.
I think their business must be down a lot since I had an email a couple of days ago which went about how the pizzas are cooked at 230C and no-one touches them once they come out of the oven. Reading between the lines the gist of the email was "We're dying here, buy some pizza!"
But isn't worth it, the virus won't survive the oven but how do we know the cook hasn't sneezed or coughed when he took it out, Do miss it though.
The last time we had a takeaway was Mother's Day (one calendar month ago today) when I ordered a Chinese over the phone and went and got it. That was also the last time I drove as well.

Yes we still have. Indian, pizza, burger & chips... We wash our hands after touching the packaging but still take the risk that someone's coughed all over it or something. If we were higher risk or in contact with someone who was we probably wouldn't.

kid1 insisted on pizza hut for her birthday, cos they do "vegan" "cheese". my (non-vegan) was literally inedible

Next time just go for the cookie dough & ice cream! Mmmmm..... That's the only thing we get from pizza hut. Their pizza is rank.

O, right (duh). In truth, I last had a takeaway in 2006 (once). Used to, when I had offspring, some time in the 80/90s, but we live in the takeaway central so it was better to go and collect your dinner.

Haven't had a take-away since lockdown but still getting my tuesday Pizzahut text trying to tempt me.

I’ve had a couple, but only from places I’ve used before that I’ve not had issues with. Only difference is it’s either been a contactless delivery on my doorstep or they’ve phoned for me to meet them outside.

There‘s probably a bit of a risk (as with everything) but you just have to hope they’re taking necessary precautions.

Yeah I’m only really using places I know and only ones that have a 5 hygiene rating but I always check that anyway.
The only issue we’ve had was from our regular Chinese delivery. We waited two hours for our food and ended up getting a refund. Their food is really good but their customer service is really really bad.

As long as I was completely confident that everyone in the kitchen & delivery chain are having regular tests to ensure they are virus free.

Then I would be happy to eat their food

is it dairy free by any chance?

Nah vegankid1 will just have to have vegan ben & jerries from sainsbury's.

In my day i had to walk 10 miles to buy toffuti from the niche health food shop the next town over. It still tasted like crap :(

i do hope that you, your facibities and suppliers are fully tested and certified covid-free  and that all of the family and/or friends that you are unexpectedly catering for find your offerings up to scratch

no, not for at least the last 5 weeks, Just Eat are now basically acting like an obsessed stalker with the number of emails and texts they're sending me.

No. We haven’t previously supported local takeaways, and aren’t about to start ordering kebabs with chips and gravy just because there’s a pandemic.

Yep had 3 takeaways. First was a curry delivered to our doorstep then food then a place that does ready meals you head at home which was spanakopita then at weekend gone another curry from a new place.

We usually eat out/takeaway 2-3 times per month.

Have ordered sourdough bread & veg lasagne from bakery place that’s opening again just 9-3 Fri/Sat this week.

I can't wait to eat out again (heaven knows when that will be) but haven't really been tempted to get a takeaway or delivery.

This is because I) no particularly good ones near us ii) we don't get a lot of them anyway for that reason iii) CV and iv) the last one we had wasn't that good. The memory of the rubbery chicken is more of a deterrent than coronavirus TBH.

Pizza and Chinese a few times, containers handled with some gloves while transferring to plates, then blasted in the oven for a few minutes (not sure if this does anything useful, but it usually needs it anyway).

I got fish and chips on the Tuesday after Easter, to make up for not having any on Good Friday but everywhere would have been stupid busy then. Otherwise been trying to save money. I don't think its much of a risk though.

Sorry don’t understand?
i might have to check in with drunk-me at some future time and ask what i was specifically getting at :D

just that you seem to have very high standards for accepting restaurant-prepared food and i wondered whether your own supply chains were similarly rigorously tested.

oh or are you a propper prepper who can live out the whole thing on before-times stocks?

Nope, I've been tempted, but the risk is far greater than doing the weekly shop,

How did you work that out? I'd have thought that the stuff you bought from a shop has a greater chance of being handled by more people i.e. other shoppers. Lots more footfall in a shop than in a take-away that's only doing deliveries.

Round my area there seem to be plenty of places still offering deliveries. I think the comfort factor outweighs the potential risks, at least when compared with the alternatives.

The comfort factor, a break from cooking every fucking meal, the maintaining of some elements of normality for psychological reasons, keeping local places afloat, all sorts of good reasons.

I think I'm careful with risk of infection, and I know people put their levels of acceptable risks in different places, but I do think avoiding this is quite an extreme position to take given the very minimal risk, and I do wonder how people who are avoiding this are managing with everything else.

No. I buy stuff from Tesco!
Just don’t really trust restaurants hygiene practices.
