Are you as fat/thin as you should be?

I'll distract, you run Teuchter.

Those little legs will never catch you up, and we can have a good laugh at their hummingbird like running motion

I don't run. It's not dignified.

I can't imagine quim running either.

I walk very fast though

Oh, link or it never happened

The link was up here a few weeks ago - This is the upshot of the Robert Wood Jhonston Foundation & associates fucking around with health policy again.

As for weight - I'm ok, maybe at the upper end of my range as my blood sugar levels have been a wee bit high recentlly so I've upped the time & intensity of my regular excercise routine & I feel that I've lost some. Not planning to get on the scales till the weekend to confirm, or not.

Yeah, 6ft 2 and pretty broad, so I look slimmer than I am. Wasn't a scientific comparison, just made me think "it must annoy her that I sit here and eat constantly and am not that fat, whilst she eats like a bird and has a big wobbly bottom".

It's an expensive habit to break. Protein costs loads and veg is boring.

Mmmm. Baguettes. Cous cous. Pasta. Rice. Chips. Beer.

Nah I didn't think you were doing a full study on it, it is another annoying thing about being a woman though

I heard last night you've a higher risk of cancer eating meat and dairy too, so what protein can we eat? Beans? Tofu? :(

Mmm toast with butter, sandwiches, noodles and geerally stodge!! :D

It's the short person/jack russell syndrome.

ahaha :D:D

It's taken me two years to realise why people always overtake me when I'm cycling... they've got longer legs and bigger bloody bikes than mine! :D

I'm far far too skinny for what I should be, I eat like a horse. Lots of junk shit like crisps and coke and sometimes I'll get a takeaway but it's usually normal stuff including vegetables so it's not that I don't eat healthy food either.

Definitely have a fast metabolism and my body inside is probably a lot unhealthier than it looks on the outside that's for sure.

I can't imagine teuchter running either, well, not without falling off my chair.

I used that excuse too, Then someone pointed at the man overtaking me on the fold-up bike with its tiny wheels.

:(

christ knows. im around 8 and a half stone right now, which is pretty chubby for me, but im not complaining. All it means is that I am a size 10 rather than size 8, which i'll probably be around february.

i love my food and eat what i want. will deffo be flabbier after xmas but dont mind - it'll drop off with my nerves within weeks. Could do with exercising and toning up - its not to lose weight but more to be healthy. i have a superfast metabolism so usually pretty skinny with massive boobs. im lucky.

a little chunky i guess, don't exercise apart from walking, guess I'm about 10 1bs to a stone and a bit overweight, 12 1/2 stone 5 ft 10...

It probably does annoy her a bit, but what can you do? Can't change you're metabolic rate that easily (afaik).
You people with higher metabolisms than me! I've got the fucking metabolism of a sloth :D
The brain burns more calories than any other organ. Big brain, fast metabolism, small brain.....:p

In reality people don't differ by that much - what evolutionary advantage would be conveyed by a markedly different metabolism? Exploiting every available calorie was once essential to survival, but equally, homo-ate-all-the-pies probably wouldn't have been too popular with the other hominids.

The body stores away unused calories for times of need (famine on the Serengeti, not Tesco closed on a Sunday night), and they build up slowly. Two people may consume the same number of calories, but even a small discrepancy in the number they actually require might result in one of them losing weight and one of them gaining weight - especially when averaged out over years.

Women: 661 + (4.38 x weight in pounds) + (4.33 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age) = BMR
Men: 67 + (6.24 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.9 x age) = BMR

Apparently this. BMR = 'Basal Metabolic Rate' :hmm:

This doesn't make sense. Is the first number supposed to be 66?? You get a massive number that means nothing, I did anyway.

I think I'm about right. My wii thought I should weigh an extra stone the other week. Stuff that!! I wouldn't be happy being over 9st.

Not overweight, but fatter than I'd like to be at the moment. I wish I didn't care but I do. So I have started running again, but I'm not very good at it. I am also watching what I eat, but it's particularly hard at this time of year, and I LOVE cooking!

I'm reasonably toned from years of pilates, which is something, I suppose. And I'm one of those annoying tall people. :D

I'm thinner than I have any right to be given how much food I consume...although on both sides of my family there is a history of skinny people getting rotund eventually, so I'll make the most of it whilst I can.

I'm shorter and fatter than I should be but I do fuck all exercise at the moment except for walking for a couple of hours both days at the weekend but it's really not enough. I struggle with fitting exercise into my life. I did consider cycling to work but I'm so rarely working in the same place that it isn't really practical. Maybe when the weather improves and it's not dark I might do that but then I've got the bicycle on the tube mare to deal with

yep, my body matches the amount of food I eat... I eat enough to have energy to do stuff but don't overeat. I really hate the feeling of being too full, so I eat anything but small portions of it.

How very French of me!

p.s. I do exercise, always have, not lots but just enough.

I eat OK, but drink too much alcohol and don't take much exercise these days, so it's no wonder I'm not as slim as I used to be. :(

Yep. The only excericise I do is yoga. I'm currently 9st 5llb and I'm 5' 2.5'' with a BMI of 23.6. I'm promising myself weekly cardiovascular workouts in the new year. My diet is generally Ok but I eat crisps everyday and pizza/curry every other weekend.

I never weigh myself, but getting prescription for the pill again, I was faced with finding out exactly how much I'd put on by having a baby. 6kgs, apparently.

Was a bit put out by how much it was, but then interesting to think I don't really look like I've put a lot on, even though I'm a shortarse. Gone from about a size 10 to a size 12, which is tolerable and not unhealthy, but as far as I'm concerned, at my height, it's not a size I should go over, as beyond that I am likely to start looking and, I expect, to be, officially overweight.

I suspect I weight more now than I did, say, six weeks after Ez was born. She's not been very hard work, so I've had an easy time of it, plus being at home always means more snacking. Hopefully I'll lose a bit when I start back at work three days a week early next year!

I'm not upset about my current weight, but I should now keep more of an eye on it for health's sake, especially as I have a hip problem that would be exacerbated by excess weight.

I'm fatter than I'd like to be, but I don't think I'm really fatter than I 'should' be. I have a normal-ish BMI apparently, but I'm definitely more rounded at the edges than I used to be when I did several dance lessons a week, and before late night munchies were a regular part of my life. Have lost a noticeable bit of weight in the past week or two though so I'm pleased about that :)

I do fucking love food though.
