Are you as fat/thin as you should be?

It probably does annoy her a bit, but what can you do? Can't change you're metabolic rate that easily (afaik).
You people with higher metabolisms than me! I've got the fucking metabolism of a sloth :D

How do you check how good/bad your metabolism rate is? :hmm:

I'm a bit lardy, yes, but I can't be bothered to do anything about it. I don't have an unhealthy relationship with food, I just love it and love cooking. I know I'm not unhealthy, I take the dog out for a 50 min walk twice a day plus I cycle to the shops and to friends places.
I was more bothered about being slim when I was younger, now I've hung up my marabou bra and hotpants and have stopped going to clubs its easier to hide flab under a sweater. I know some people would call that letting yourself go, but then I look at celebs around my age and older who are still working out furiously and I feel a bit sorry for them, it must be rotten not being able to sit in front of the telly with a nice cake.

*shrugs*

Agree to disagree, I don't feel disadvantaged by my height (except at gigs!), just my own appetite and laziness :D

Perhaps because you are not as short as me.

And minnie and 5t3IIa can bugger off with their ''I'm short'' whines too.

Well I'd imagine biddly ain't fat :D

I used to have a good metabolism. I could eat and eat and eat and never put on weight. I weighed between 7 and 7½ stone. Suddenly mid-20s everything seemed to slow down and I'm now quite a bit heavier :o:(

If you can eat loads, don't exercise much and don't put on lots of weight = high ;)

:p:D

Women: 661 + (4.38 x weight in pounds) + (4.33 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age) = BMR
Men: 67 + (6.24 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.9 x age) = BMR

Apparently this. BMR = 'Basal Metabolic Rate' :hmm:

Absolutely

Come the revolution, those over, say, 5'8 (I'm feeling generous) will receive a legectomy, to take them back to a more suitable size.
Especially tall citizens may face a headectomy, too.

It would be cheaper to make them wear giant shoes on their knees like this.

If you are short you have got a lower centre of gravity and less likely to get blown over in high winds. So there is that, at least.

Sorry. I saw on wikipedia that the average British woman is between 5'3 and 5'4 and I am about 5'3 3/4" therefore precisely average. I've felt taller ever since I read that :)

My taller people post would have been a more appropriate quote for this comment.

But yes, there is that.

I suppose.

Quite. You are 4 and 3/4 inches taller than me.

You wouldn't get disability benefits in San Francisco.

I'll distract, you run Teuchter.

Those little legs will never catch you up, and we can have a good laugh at their hummingbird like running motion

I have got a little bit of a belly, but I don't mind. It is my arteries that I am more worried about.

Ah yes, the main danger of being thinner than you should be. You can eat what you like and not put on a pound, but you're never quite sure when the heart attack will strike.

Another ex-colleague was like that. Big McDonalds breakfast every day, KFC or a kebab for lunch. 2 or 3 chocolate bars a day. Great body. I give him until 38.
