Do you food combine?

What if you put one thing on your fork but then shovel the next thing into your mouth really quickly so then the half masticated first bite is combined with the fresh new flavour ?

Slow down - you'll get hiccups and you won't digest your food properly, which might result in bottom problems.

I don't leave anything cos I can't abide waste.
It can cause problems if I over estimate the amount of rice or pasta I need and I have to sit there sweating until it all gone.

When the partner's away I cook lentils every day. I don't measure anything because that's work. I have to eat it all because otherwise I'd have to put the left-overs in the organic waste bin and that's also work. I suppose that makes me some kind of extremist.

You're not supposed to put cooked foods into organic waste.

I can't leave anything either. Might explain my weight problem (always looking for a sneaky excuse)

I have food combined and found it really successful...if a bit restrictive at times.

Now I'm a veggie, it's not quite so easy to cut out/ restrict carbs...

Why don't you just make it into a cold dish the day after?

I'm a combiner I guess - good food is not meant to be eaten seperately, it's been cooked so the flavours complement each other. Mark of a bad dish is it tasting weird when the flavours are combined - look at restrauteurs, chefs, critics etc... they will all combine food, it's how you're supposed to eat it.

Outright mashing is, of course, another matter entirely - you lose textures and combine flavours too much...

Eurggh! That's a whole other thread there!
Cold food that was once hot is generally WRONG.
Quite a few exceptions though.:o
Don't mind cold meats, but cold veg - yuck!

Yeah but cold pasta can be made into a nice salad with basil, mozarella and cherry tomatoes and cold rice can just be reheated.

No, cold pasta is vile and has to be really smothered in pesto to be edible.
Rice reheated? I'm sure you're not supposed to do that.
I don't like sticking things in tupperware anyhow cos I just forget about them and they go green and smelly.

Reheating rice is fine - I've been doing it for years and it've never had food poisoning. It's only really a problem with rice that has been kept warm (ie over room temp) for a long period after frying, and it's not so common over here anyway.

Cold pasta can be a bit manky, but if you're good at cooking it's not hard to make it into a quick lunch salad.

I am a good cook! I just don't like eating leftovers - probably cos I was made to eat them as a kid. I never liked eating what I'd eaten the night before - I craved a bit of variety!

I used to have a Chinese girlfriend. We ate rice with nearly everything. She had a rice saucepan that had a kind of strainer thing in it where the rice went. Thing is - she would leave the left-over rice in there and top it up the next day.

 And leave things on the plate?!?!

Wrong'un.

There's starving kids in Eithiopia who'd kill to have what you've got, you know!

Separate.

Usually meat first, then veg, then carbo.

Unless there's a salad, then I eat the salad first. Cooked veg fall into the regular order.

If it's a restaurant and they bring bread, I break the carbo rule by eating bread first.

I eat the thing I like best, first. I figure the thing I least like, which I'll eat last: I don't really care if it's cold, and if I'm full by that point, I won't mind leaving it on the plate.
