Any proof for this thesis, or is it another "off the cuff" Gmarthewsism with a very loose grip on reality?

It's just that so many countries that enjoy sport also participate in war/armed strife. Indeed history shows us that in Europe at least, sport was often the means by which power elites encouraged "the common man" to maintain his fitness for military service, in the UK even as recently as the early 20th century.

That was my point in the previous post: Whatever we are moving towards, the consent of little people (somewhere over 90%) is not on the agenda.
We are just tools and obstacles to the elite.

The consent of the people is always on the agenda. Those in power depend upon us for it. They can do nothing without our permission.

If we are tools, then so are the elites. They depend on us to be tools, and therefore do not have power over themselves. The rulers are just as fucked as the ruled.

I do recall reading that bertrand russell thought the only way the world could find a peaceful future was with one world government. Mind you he wrote that when the US and USSR were expected to begin nuclear war.
